It’s a really nice umbrella. A little pricey, but worth it. I have all Profoto lights, so it goes with them..... Puts out a really nice light.

This large umbrella is a great size for full body portraits or small group portraits. It appears to be well made and is quick to set up. A nice addition to the lighting kit.

Love this umbrella. Also purchased to Profoto diffusion panel and use with it. I can't tell any difference shooting with this and the 5ft Octa which is a nightmare to set up and take apart.

When photographing people a reflected or indirect illumination is best for skin tones and controlling highlights. I prefer umbrellas with a diffusion screen or indirect soft boxes with a front diffusion screen in place. I have both the Deep XL and the Deep L umbrellas. I travel with the L and most commonly mount it on an extension arm off a C stand or just a roller without an extension. I use the XL in studio, usually on a boom and heavier stand. The XL is too large for comfortable use most of the time on location, it can catch the wind and sail. Even with a heavily sand bagged stand it can move or can blow down in a moderate breeze. The Profoto Deep white umbrellas are well made and deliver a soft, broad light when used fairly close to the subject. Increasing the light to subject distance increases the over all contrast but does not alter the smooth gradation of the light till you get way out there. Like all european flash equipment the Profoto umbrellas are overpriced for the American marketplace. No other umbrella performs as well as these newer deep Profotos and no other umbrellas deliver the quality of light they generate so I recommend them regardless of cost. I also use Elinchrom indirect mount light modifiers and Chimera soft boxes and strip lights. It is easy to get a beautiful portrait with a Profoto umbrella and one strip light for fill. No one light source is best for every situation. There is a subtle difference between a 60 inch umbrella and a 3x4 or 4x6 ft soft box and which one you choose depends of the feel you have for the subject. The Profoto white XL with diffuser provides even illumination and is preferred for most portraits in studio. It is an especially flattering light for women up to full body length images.
