This reflector works well with classic pro and acute style heads. Because of the way a bare/domed Profoto head works a portion of the light is wasted if you use a light with an umbrella and without a reflector of some kind. The B1/B1x/B2/D1/D2 series of lights don't actually need a disc reflector because they have a built in reflector which is already preventing spill.

I have both the B1's and the D1's and this disc reflector does not allow you to attach an umbrella to your flash head. I guess it can be used if you mount your umbrella directly to your stand and not to the heads, but this is extremely inconvenient. Would not recommend.

Apparently doesn't work with either the D1 or B1. The shaft of your umbrella must bend up and over the lip of this spill kill umbrella reflector, bending and damaging both your umbrella and your reflector. Had profoto made this incompatibility clear in the product description I would not have bought it. Disappointingly I have made 4 attempts to get support & info from Profoto Int'l and USA on this issue over a two week period. Nobody has returned my emails or calls. Since it's now used I will probably mod this over-priced reflector a la Paul C Buff reflectors by drilling a hole in the reflector to accommodate am umbrella shaft, the way Profoto should, the way something advertised as an "umbrella reflector" should.

Designed for use with an umbrella. It keeps light from spilling off the edges of the umbrella. Very compact design for easy carrying.
