Great addition to the R3! I purchased it to allow for the camera strap to be connected at the bottom instead of the top. To me this solved the issue of the camera strap falling across the lens when going quickly from landscape to portrait mode.

Have many RRS fixtures, This one is light weight, fits like a glove and will work with any compatible head. On the R3 The design ,is a perfect addition to a great camera body. could not ask for a better mount.

Really light weight as if nothing is on there. Provides more comfortable grip and pinky rest. Also fits perfectly with no play at all. Been living it!

I got this plate so that it extends the grip to support my pinky finger - i know its a silly reason to get this but it makes it feel that much solid in my hand its totally worth it. It actually makes me feel better knowing the bottom of the camera is protected against dings / not worried about placing on surfaces etc. You can access the battery compartment with no issues and it fits perfectly.

Works great on the sony a7r3. What I didn't know at time of purchase is that when the plate is connected to the camera, the battery lid cannot be opened. The plate must be removed to replace the battery. There is a video that describes taking off the battery lid, and replacing it to the RR base plate, and this works, but then the RR baseplate is more or less a permanent fixture to the camera.
