I was looking for a compact camera that would easily fit in my pocket and take better pictures than my phone camera. Wow! The Ricoh GRIII exceeded my expectations. I already own a Sony A6400 and Sony RX100 VII but the RX100 turned out to be too thick to comfortably carry in my pants pocket. What I wasn't expecting with the Ricoh is the excellent photo quality, ease of use, user friendly and intuitive camera menu settings and the fantastic film simulation choices. The interface between the camera and my phone using the Image Synch App is also Much better than the Sony App. I'm not knocking my Sony's, I'm just expressing my happiness with my Ricoh.

This camera easily produces amazing quality photos and is compact enough to bring on any trip without being a hassle. Only downsides are a low quality display and poor battery life.

Awesome camera! Great image quality, nice features, perfect size. Not perfect: 2 batteries minimum for outings, takes some getting used to for best results.

I love this camera. It takes great photos and is very lightweight. I have a lot of professional mirrorless cameras and they are great but sometimes not so easy to travel with. The Ricoh produces high quality images and is to easy to handle. I absolutely love it.

So far, so good, although I recently ordered it and haven't got the chance to fully take it thru the ringer. As a long-time GR II user that just broke, I'll compare it to GR II. 1) The menu is more extensive than that of GR II. 2) Nice exposure feature such as the mode to protech highlights that wasn't available. 3) VR does help with low light, may be a stop over GR II. 4) More custom button assignment available. Woohoo. 5) Shorter than GR II so a bit less room for your thumb. 6) The Street version certainly looks better than the generic plain black version. Swapped out the orange ring for a black ring immediately though.

Amazing camera capable of capturing fantastic images. Unless you know EXACTLY what you are buying, there may be better choices in this price range.

A great camera. It's a perfect size for street photography. The lens is sharp. It has nearly as many menus/options/ settings as my Pentax K1. Very happy I purchased it

What an awesome little pocket camera! It?s helped me to shoot more spontaneously and has improved my compositional skills tremendously day to day (I normally only shoot more involved time consuming nature scenes).

This was a gift for my spouse, It?s a nice camera so far. It is pricey though for a point and shoot, but I get the hype? There are a few things we wish it had and didn?t have. For example he wishes there was no lens bump and it had a cable release (but I mean it?s is a point and shoot so). I wish the street addition did come with the viewfinder then maybe it would justify the price. There is no flash but who uses a flash on a point and shoot, as it would look terrible, but it does have the hot shoe. Oh and it is a fixed lens, we sort of wanted a 35 but the 28 will do just fine. The camera is rather sharp and fast and it shoots pretty good in low light situation. Black and white filter is lovely (I mean yeah you can change later but it?s a nice option). My spouse wanted this so he could carry a pocket camera with a decent sensor and not carry the dslr all the time. So it will serve it?s purpose. It?s a very visually pretty camera and he seems to love it and would recommend it.

The Ricoh GR III Digital Camera has opened up so many photographic opportunities for me because it's tiny, has a great sensor, and a fixed focal length that encourages to use my legs. I shoot landscapes on a DSLR primarily but needed something I could grab easily for more 'snapshot' scenarios, to help continue developing my skills. It's done that and more in just a few weeks.

First function-enhancing firmware for unique camera

"Dramatic" improvements in low-light image quality claimed
This camera is amazing.

When my friend who had a GR2 told me to check out the GR3... I never thought I would find a compact digital with that rivaled shots from my expensive collection of cameras I own. Simply put, if you are a professional or experienced photographer that needs a compact, this is the camera for you. Super fast shutter speed in low light, raw images, and the list goes on. Screw optical zoom, fixed lenses are where its at with compacts. And even if you're a novice, this is the camera for you if you ...

Best Hi-End compact

Ricoh GR DIII is outstanding in terms of image quality in compact size well in hand. High quality fast GR lens with F1.9 and work very well at high iso 800. Function work great and easy to understand. Control buttons are in good position. I like the small pop-up flash and also like the conversion lens GH-2 to attach the filter size 43mm to protect the lens. Strong and solid body construction, battery also very good. Reasonable price.
The new GR DIGITAL III takes the GR line's traditional high image quality to an even higher level with a new image processing engine, a new CCD, and the newly developed 28 mm/F1.9 GR Lens. Performance has also been enhanced in areas such as quick shooting, operability, and power of expression.
The GR DIGITAL III
• 1. Newly developed large-aperture lens.
The adoption of the new F1.9, f-6.0 mm (equivalent to 28 mm for 35 mm film cameras) lens for the GR DIGITAL III takes compact-body cameras into a new realm of images. This lens makes it possible to shoot with a faster shutter speed than could be used on previous models, or to shoot with the same shutter speed but at a lower setting for ISO sensitivity.
Despite the large F1.9 aperture, the new lens achieves a resolution level equivalent to that of the F2.4 GR Lens. The use of a newly developed lens drive system has made it possible to achieve greater image quality in macro photography.
• 2. Taking the GR DIGITAL concepts another step forward, the GR DIGITAL III achieves even greater image quality. The new image processing engine GR Engine III is installed. Using newly developed noise reduction technology, it enables highly sophisticated noise processing to be done while maintaining superior resolution, tone characteristics, and saturation.
The new high-sensitivity CCD (1/1.7 inch, approx. 10 megapixels) achieves high-sensitivity properties through the use of a new process. The combination of the newly developed GR Lens and GR Engine III significantly increases shooting performance in low-light scenes.
• 3. Even faster shooting capabilities for capturing fleeting shutter opportunities.
Algorithm improvements have reduced focusing time in low-light scenes. With the Pre-AF function, focusing speed is further accelerated by adjusting the focus to match the movement of the subject.
The new "full-press snap" function shoots at a preset distance for a one-push full-press of the shutter button. Up to five RAW images can be recorded in consecutive shooting* and bracketing.
*When noise reduction is OFF. When it is Weak or Strong, the maximum is four images.
• 5. Large, high-visibility 3.0-inch VGA LCD monitor.
The 3.0-inch, 920,000-dot VGA LCD monitor provides high resolution, a wide viewing angle, excellent colour reproduction, good visibility outdoors, and a surface that resists soiling. The sRGB comparison for colour reproduction range is 100%.
The micro-thumbnail display function displays 81 thumbnail images on a single screen.
• 6. Operability further enhanced.
The My Settings on the mode dial have been expanded to three sets. The number of Fn (function) buttons on the back of the camera body has been expanded to two.
A function has been added for assigning names to My Settings sets and storing and retrieving them. A maximum of six sets can be defined and stored.
