I've been looking to get the Canon 35mm for a long time - even had a friend willing to sell me his for only $1k. I am a fan of Randy Halverson and saw that he used this lens to capture the Milky Way. I did some research and decided to buy it. Took my first pics of the Milky Way with it on my Canon 6D and was extremely happy! The lens is heavy, but so is the Canon - that tells me it has good glass - not plastic.

I decided to try something supposedly better than my old canon 24-70 f/2.8 (the first version, not the new one) and I couldn't be happier. This is a completely manual lens, but if you are OK with live-view focusing, the results are just amazing.

Can a foodie find photographic ambrosia with a street-savvy MILC? Scott Baker says "yes"!

The Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical Lens emerges as a stellar choice for Nikon F mount photographers seeking a blend of high-quality performance and affordability. This lens, a testament to Rokinon's commitment to innovation and reliability, offers a versatile standard focal length of 35mm, ideal for a wide range of photography genres, including portraiture, landscapes, and street scenes.
Crafted with precision, the lens features an aspherical element that effectively minimizes chromatic aberrations and ensures images are sharp from edge to edge. The high refraction glass elements contribute to the lens's ability to produce high-contrast images with true-to-life colors. Its wide f/1.4 aperture not only facilitates shooting in low-light conditions but also provides photographers with the creative freedom to achieve a beautifully shallow depth of field, making it a reliable tool for capturing compelling visual narratives.
Durability is not compromised, as the lens's robust construction is designed to withstand the demands of both amateur and professional use. The inclusion of a focusing scale on the lens barrel enhances precision focusing, a valuable feature for photographers who prefer manual control or wish to pre-focus for faster shooting scenarios.
The Nikon F mount version of this lens is further enhanced with an automatic chip that supports auto aperture and auto exposure, streamlining the shooting process and ensuring seamless integration with the camera's metering system. This feature is particularly beneficial for photographers who move quickly between different lighting conditions.
As part of Rokinon's esteemed lineup, which includes the acclaimed 8mm Fisheye, 14mm Wide Angle, and 85mm f/1.4 lenses, the 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical Lens stands out as a high-performing, cost-effective solution for those seeking to elevate their photography without compromise. Whether capturing high-resolution stills or high-definition video, this lens is poised to deliver exceptional results that resonate with the discerning visual storyteller.
