Used Rokinon Lens station for Sony E

Pretty much works as advertised. Would love the company to ship their lenses always at their 100% but for the price I can?t complain.

Although I wish the lenses themselves had a USB interface that you could just copy firmware files over to (e.g. Viltrox), they update quickly and successfully on these. Software is painless and easy.

The lens station is just as sturdy as it needs to be. Downloads are fast and seamless. No fuss at all. Would recommend

The Len I bought for my Sony E mount needed firmware update thus the lens station was needed. I went to the Rokinon (Samyang) site and following their directions was slightly confusing. I googled in YouTube how to connect and get software and firmware organized. That was more obvious for directions on how to. Then the firmware update was then a snap.

This item looks at first glance like unnecessary extra. Other lenses get their firmware upgraded without additional hardware. For me, it is perfect approach to lowering the price and bulk of the lens. In fact, I got it for use with Rokinon mini lenses. 18//2.8, 45/1.8, 75/1.8. Smallest, lightest FF lenses at their respective categories. These three weigh together as much as any single lens of any of these three focal lengths by other manufacturers. Without loss in optical quality. No doubt this station contributed to lowering their weight. It is simple to use. Some stiffness with the lens release lever.

The lens station is very simple to use. You may use a mac or pc. You do have to install a small application to run the lens station. You mount your lens on it and with the app open, you can change focus speed, update firmware, it really is simple to use. Note: If you have a samyang lens, I am not sure if they are compatible (they should) but you should ask the manufacturer. Overall, please with the station.

I purchased this to use with the Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 lense (Sony FE). The software was easily downloaded, and the updates are quick and easy to apply. The lens station itself is extremely light and “plasticky” feeling, but it works well and I don’t expect any issues. It allows for a few tweaks to be made as well, like AF adjustment and the speed of MF when turning the ring. Overall I’ve been very happy with it and would buy it again.

I used it once, my lens already has the latest firmware 0.3. May be useful in future firmware upgrade. I bought it because I think auto-focus is a very important feature of a lens.

This lens station is meant for updating your lenses. It kinda sucks that you have to buy this to update lenses but hey, a company has to make money I guess lol. You need to also download the update software from the Samyang/ Rokinon website. They include a video on how to download everything you need. I own the 14mm 2.8 and 24mm 2.8 lenses with the Sony E-mount. Both work pretty great as well, totally recommend these lenses too!
