Great pocket camera. HIgh resolution pictures. Easy to use. Only negative is that it does not let you do dual mode - take pictures while taking video. I like this a lot as I take videos of animals & at concerts and the only time I can get clear pictures, because of the movement & lights, is by taking pics while taking video since it's already focused in.

This is the best point and shot camera, small, great zoom, very good quality in photos and awsome on video, lot of functions and for me is like the pre-DSLR camera.

Good quality images. You have good customizations also. But lacks a bigger sensor to finish the picture.

Easy to use and great pics.
Take hold of the textured grip and capture your next adventure with ultra-sharp Sony cyber-shot DSCH HX50V digital camera. This 20.4MP beauty sports a 30x optical zoom and advanced 3-way image that makes action shots crystal clear. Add full manual control for more creative shots and 1080/60p movie recording for smoother footage. You can even map your memories with built-in GPS tagging and accessorize with a wide variety of available extras.
Amazing 30x Zoom
Zoom in incredibly close for great sports, travel and wildlife photos. The Cyber-shot HX50V camera boasts a powerful 30x optical zoom plus 60x Clear Image digital zoom technology to bring you near enough to capture the most distant details-from leaves on the trees, to smiles on the soccer field. The camera's powerful processor reduces graininess for crisper, higher-quality close-ups.
Say Goodbye to Blur
Your subject stays stable even when your hand is anything but. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization compensates for camera shake by countering camera movements in both horizontal and vertical directions. Plus, Active 3-Way stabilization keeps things even steadier with digital rolling control that offsets clockwise and counterclockwise rotations, so videos are smoother even while zoomed in close.
Pixel Power in Low Light
With the 20.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, you can capture high-resolution images that take full advantage of the high-quality Sony G lens. More pixels means you can enlarge, zoom in and crop your photos without losing detail. Advanced processing technology reduces noise and graininess for incredibly crisp, clear images even in challenging low-light conditions.
Amazing HD Movies
Record crystal-clear movies at the highest resolution available with Full HD 1080/60p video capture (records in 29-minute segments). Stunning, fast-motion video with reduced distortion looks great when played back on your HDTV. Notice a perfect photo opp while shooting video? With dual record of stills and movies, you can shoot both at the same time.
Total Control
For creative flexibility, the Cyber-shot HX50V features full manual and dedicated EV control dial. You can enter Program Auto (P), Aperture Priority (A), Shutter Speed Priority (S) or Manual Exposure (M) mode.
Never Miss the Moment
With high-speed shooting of up to 10 fps (frames per second) at full 20.4-megapixel resolution, it's perfect for sports, action photography, or capturing a unique sequence of photos. Your shots will be clear and blur-free thanks to a mechanical shutter which helps reduce distortion when continuously shooting moving subjects. The HX50V also features 5-blade aperture for smooth background defocusing.
