I've used this camera for everything from baseball games and the zoo to nightclub and family gatherings. This camera is amazing! I paid $129.99 at Ritz and all of the sales people there confirmed that this camera was way better than any other brand in it's class. Including Canon, Nikon and Kodak. The functions are easy to use. Does not come with any memory though which was a bummer but you can get a 2Bg stick for $15, cool deal! I never had a Sony, but I will never own any other brand now that I have this sweet gem of a camera! BUY IT. If you can it for under $100 BUY IT! If it comes with a bundle, BUT IT! Camera bags and larger than 2GB memory aren't cheap.

my last camera was an older generation sony cyber-shot dsc-p73 which i got from walmart in 2007 for barely over $100 including a 1 gig memory stick. recently it died after 1000's of pictures and obvious abuse i've put it through. the old cam is my basis for comparison. i'll get to the point and say what this new dsc-s950 camera DOESN'T have, that my old dsc-p73 DID have. i bought this at best buy with a discounted carrying case for about $150. THE BAD: -first and foremost-DOES NOT TAKE GOOD LOW LIGHT PICS. i've played around with the settings put in order to take a low light pic and be able to make out the subject you basicly HAVE to settle for an excessive amount of blinding flash in order to capture the subject. my older, cheaper p73 did better than this latest camera. -regardless of the "10 mp" rating, when you really look close to the pics you take or zoom in you see how much blur, haze and subtle distortion there is in the pics, compared to my older, cheaper "4.1MP" camera!!! NOT GOOD. -it costs more than the last camera, of similar level. my old one was built nearly 5 years ago now. it cost less and did more to sum it up. -this camera doesn't have the easy adaptability for different lenses like my old one -this "10 MP" camera takes slightly more pixelated pics. although the pics are a larger file. resolution doesnt seem horribly better than some high end cel phone cameras. NOT GOOD. -the new functionality in this more recent generation of cyber shot is better after practice. they have essentially eliminated buttons and items on the selection wheel and integrated MOST of the functions into the program making the design look more clean. HOWEVER, the elimination of some functions (primarily a function for better low light pics) really puts this model out there as a lower end cyber shot. -the screens on these newer generation cyber shots are bigger and very good display. but you have to consider thats just all the more display there is to brake vs. the older style, smaller digital display + old school view box like one the older generation cyber shots. verdict:if you are bent on buying a new model cyber shot and only that will do. -do not settle for this model go up a few notches to a higher model because you can get and older generation cyber shot for less that actually has more functionality. THE GOOD: -lighter than older generation cyber shot. -in the end, the is a lower/lowest grade camera in its cyber shot class so maybe this should be expected? -the cosmetic style of the camera is nice. -i like the newer generation batteries/charger -slightly-better zoom than what you got for this much money 5 years ago.

I just got this camera and it`s safe to say it`s wonderful .I like that fact that I can see the pictures just before I delete them .I also like the fact that it takes the most clearest pictures I have ever seen .I would recommend this camera to a friend without hesitation.

Can you find photographic happiness for under $150 $120? Believe it or not, you can!
The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S950 Point & Shoot Digital Camera brings you a variety of intelligent features in a compact, easy-to-use design. Face Detection technology automatically detects up to eight faces and optimizes focus and exposure settings while a 4x optical zoom lens and 10.1-megapixel resolution deliver crisp, clear images.
The 1/2.3" Super HAD CCD image sensor helps you capture gorgeous images with superb contrast and clarity down to the finest detail. With 10.1 megapixels, you can create stunning, photo-quality prints up to A3 size, or crop your images and still come away with high resolution shots. The SteadyShot digital image stabilization compensates for camera shake and helps prevent blur by capturing two photos at high shutter speeds and combining them into a single crisp, clear image.
High ISO allows for faster shutter speed, so you can take photos indoors or in low light without the need for a flash. In addition to High Sensitivity Mode (ISO), you can select up to eight ISO settings (Auto, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200) when shooting in Program Auto Mode to adjust sensitivity to your shooting conditions. Sony PMB (Picture Motion Browser ) software provides a simple, easy-to-use way to transfer video and still images to your PC, as well as sort, edit and output to data disc and the Web (PC with internet connection required).
Finding your images with PMB is easy with Calendar view and Face Search. Face Search allows you to filter by faces (one or many) and also a specific person's face. Share images and videos on popular sharing sites with Media Services function.
