The noise cancelling on these headphones is excellent, perfect for watching movies without any distractions. It really blocks out background noise, making the audio much more immersive. Highly recommended for movie lovers.

I just got my headphones today and although they were in another box with bubble wrap the box was beat up with a lot of black smudges like theses were used or returned. I waiting longer vs going to a store or amazon to get them directly from Sony to help ensure I got a great product. I was never able to reach a real person when I called customer service and the phone hung up on me multiple times. What a shame.

I bought this a month ago, and after using it for a good while, I can say the sound quality is SUPERB. It's round, and rich. Pretty clear, plus the noise cancelling is really effective, totally worth whqt you paid for. One thing to note tho is that the controls on the right ear side is pretty sensitive. Sometimes it gets swiped by fabric when I lay down a bit while using it. Other than that, pretty good sound quality --10/10

Bought these headphones in May 2025 and the hinge on the headphone seems to have poor quality control, which is similar to most of the negative reviews. The hinge on one of the earcups that connects the headphone to the headband has failed and the glue and plastic has detached the cup from the headphone band just four months later in September 2025 just from normal use. Upon speaking with customer support and relations and putting in a claim, there is nothing that could be done other than paying for a new pair of headphones or sending it off for a repair at my own expense. For an almost $500 dollar headphones to to be practically defective in four months from purchase due to everyday use is disappointing. At the end, the offer provided was to pay more than I originally paid for the headphones to get a new replacement or to get them repaired for almost half the cost paid for the headphones a few months prior. There is in no way, in good faith, I can recommend this product as this is a consistent issue, from brief research, since its launch. Very unfortunate that there is nothing that can be done as the limited warranty provided does not have any coverage for damage, accidental or not.

I brought this one month ago and now after everyday use I got to know its a little bit louse over my head like when doing workout it falls down even if I am doing something that requires not that much of the movement I tried to adjust the overall fit. And at many place the noice cancelled is not good also it lets a lot of unnecessary sound in. Overall its good ??

Overal good pair of headphones, but the build quality is mid at best. I am no audiophile, and have not purchased a headset this expensive before. I have used several other mid to low-range devices and can appreciate the difference. The price is for the noise-canceling function. The quality of the music is notable in comparison to other devices. It is very noticeable when I am in public/noisy environments. For the price, the build is disappointing. The controls work most of the time, but start to act up the longer I wear them. I suspect the pressure pad is either getting humid or depressed as I wear them. I have to turn off the control features if I wear them for more than an hour. The hinge also broke while wearing for normal use. I will admit to being a more blunt person, but I cannot point to any major drop/pressure that would explain the break. Search the internet for "1000XM5 hinge" and you'll see what I mean. For hundreds of dollars and version 5 you would think these issues would be better and not worse.

I loved my WH-1000XM5s, which I found to be significantly more comfortable than my old Bose Headphones. This was until they broke twice, in the same way, within a year. This headphones have great sound, noise cancelling and are comfortable enough that you can wear them for hours with little discomfort. However, I cannot recommend them due to the poor plastic construction of the band, specific where the joints pivot. In short, these joints are brittle and have broken twice on me in the exact same way despite being in the Sony provided case when they broke. Consequently, I am now out $450+ CAD for a product that I assumed would last me multiple years. I, and I imagine others, simply cannot afford to replace such an expensive product every year or so. This is also not a part of the product covered under warranty, and even if it was the manufacture won't cover "physical damage" despite the fact that the plastic joints are an obvious failure point. I would love to upgrade to a newer Sony product (the WH-1000XM6s) because I genuinely loved everything else about the headphones. But I cannot justify continuing with the band if these products are going to continually break in the same way, with no backstop or assistance from the manufacture in terms of replacement. In other words, these headphones are great - if you can afford replacing it at your own cost, every year or so. *Note, the white sheen in the picture is my failed attempt to super-glue the headphones back together

Got the Sony WH-1000XM5 as a birthday gift for my friend, and she's beyond happy with it! ?? The noise cancellation is on another level - much better than Apple's headphones. Sound quality is richer, bass is deeper, and it's way more comfortable for long listening. Definitely feels more premium and worth the price. When I listen the music from Apple and Spotify the WH-1000XM5 have warm sound. Good for the Lon time use. But, the easy to affect the strains form the oil from ears or hair.

These headphones are easy to use, lightweight, and comfortable. Sound quality is crisp but does not quite meet the depth and richness of my old Ziks from Parrot. The Ziks were twice as expensive, though! I'll enjoy these Sony headphones well.

Headband is painful, not made for smaller or female/ childrens head size. I am an averaged size female and it will not adjust small enough. The added pressure gives me a headache so I do a messy bun and sit it on there until I can find a fix. I review 150-200 audiobooks a year with these. They are the best overall quality I've tried. The comfort is perfect on the ears. Noise cancellation is so good I've slept with them on. My ears do not get sweaty. I don't have to take my earrings off. I have used them for phone calls and voice is clear to the person on the other line. Doesn't pick up background noise. I would have upgraded to future models if they had made them to adjust smaller and fixed the headband/cushion issue. I talked to a customer service rep from the website and no changes have been made to the design to fix the problem. It is no secret and there are a lot of forums talking about ways to make these more comfortable. I will buy them immediately when or if they do.
