This lens is absolutely fantastic. It really has a feel of quality construction. I use this with my BlackMagic 6K. It is also one of the few lenses that Metabones verifies as being compatible with the BlackMagic 4K. Best thing of all to me is the one shot AutoFocus works on the 4K Meta and 6K native. Typical of all low cost high quality lenses. The barrel extends from the body. Not by much - just about 1-1/4". The ribbing is deep enough to be driven by some focus / zoom rigs without any adapters.

Meets the exact need I was looking for. Works well for wide angle outdoors and interior photos. So far good IQ. VR has helped shoot some evening night shots using longer shutter speeds. Only thing I miss is a storage bag.

So far it seems like it focuses well and doesn't have much distortion issues. I like it doesn't focus breath much so I can focus stack picture easier.

This lens really is everything I read it was. The performance shooting Milky Way was as good or better than my Nikon 10-24. If you have it mounted on a tripod, turn the vibration control off, as it can cause sharpness issues. Highly recommend

Although I’ve only had this lens about two weeks so far I’m impressed. My images have been sharp and the VC image stabilization has been helpful for hand held shots. The maximum aperture of 3.5 is too dark for high quality astrophotography but sufficient for most other situations. I’ll be using it for landscape and travel photography. The lens is light and easy to throw in the bag and the weather sealing is definitely a plus. You can buy less expensive lenses, but I found the combination of quality glass, image stabilization, zoom and aperture range to be worth the investment.

Sharp throughout the focal range, good color saturation and light capturing depth of field. One caveat: There is a learning curve with any wide angle lens. This lens is a very precise tool and getting the most out of it requires time, patience, and learning a whole subset of photography ~ that of wide angle artistry. The vibration compensation is a real plus on this for handheld shots, which is one reason I chose it. It works splendidly. Barrel distortion is minimal at the widest zoom and easily corrected in Lightroom. Note that the barrel distortion at 10mm really only appeared on tight/close in shots such as an alcove or similar shot where the shot required me to stand close in while still trying to capture the entire scene. Wonderful lens, worth the price, a great asset to the lens bag.

So far I am liking this lens, just took it to a car show, and could not believe how close I could get to the car and still get it all in the picture. have more to learn about using it, but having fun

So, after months and months of contemplation, I finally bought myself a true wide-angle lens, as I'm now into real estate & landscape photography. My first impressions of this Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 DI-II VC HLD lens is that it performs way above its rival's 10-20mm (purchased & returned after only a few days of use). The images produced are more colorful and sharper - and this is straight out of the camera, pre-edited! Yes, the images are slightly softer on the edges (at 10mm, I shoot mostly at 15mm) but at least, this lens does not focus past infinity. And I don't have to drain my camera's batteries while trying to obtain sharp focus in live-view mode (this was my best option with the competition's). Overall so far, I think this lens is worth purchasing (for landscapes, architecture and street photography), as it is a great bang for your buck! As I continue to test it, I will update this review. Oh, and did I mention that Adorama's entire order process was flawless? Excellent guys!.

I’ll start with the good! VC is great can shoot in low light and still produce sharp images. In all the images are very sharp. The auto focus is pretty fast and quite silent. I don’t do video so not sure if it would be picked up through the mic. The bad.... I’m using this on a Nikon D3200 and sometimes out of no where the Auto focus and the VC just quit. To get it started again either the camera needs to be turned off and on again or the battery taken out and put back in. Other than that the lens is pretty amazing. No one seems to know what is up with this happening but it sounds like it is a common problem with Nikon bodies and Tamron newer lenses that use the electromagnetic diaphragm. I have tried 3 lenses and all 3 do the same thing. It’s not the camera every other lens works perfectly and all firmware is up to date. So I’m hoping Tamron finds a fix for this.

silent auto focus, crisp images BUT wish the focus ring locked when in auto focus, but for an APS-C lens happy enough :)

Fantastic lens for APS-C shooters that need a quality wide-angle zoom. The lens is sharp, has minimal chromatic aberration, and easily correctable distortion throughout the range.

The Tamron 10-24mm is a quality lens and that is the only reason why I give it 5 stars. But at $ it is pricey. Nikon has come out with a new 10-20 DX version selling at the time of this posting for $. That tells me that the price on this lens will drop. The Tamron is a great lens but I would wait for a better price.

I was in need of a wide angle lens, when I saw this lens I knew it was the one I wanted. It works well, I've shot indoors, a large group of people and I was able to get everyone in with a crystal clear image.

I consider this a mid priced lens. There some low cost wide angles that aren't worth the trouble and some excellent costly lens if you want a second mortgage in your camera bag. This lens brings the world of high quality ultra wide angle images into the reach of those without trust accounts but need quality. The quality is not just in the image, but the construction operation. It feels solids even though it is light weight. The zoom and focus rings are smooth and easy, yet firm motion. The auto focus is quick. This is my second Tamron lens, and once again they have not let me down. I use a Canon 50D and it is as happy with Tamron lens as Canon lens

Prior to my buying this lens, the only way I could capture some wide-angle shots was to use a fish-eye lens. But with the fish-eye I had to be careful on how I centered the picture and to avoid being next to any straight edge (like a railing) or the curvature it introduced would badly distract from the subject of the picture. The 10mm setting of this lens allows me to get the wide-angled pictures I want with fewer constraints on the position of the camera (the adverse effects I've seen manifest themselves in having straight edges appear slanted, which is easier to ignore than having then be obviously curved). Obviously this lens costs more than a fish-eye, but I feel it was well worth paying the higher price.

Making it brief and to the point: the build quality is very good, the body is polycarbonate but feels well made. The zoom and focus rings are smooth and have a good feel to them. The VC works very well and is pretty quiet. Autofocus is quick and accurate on my Nikon D7100. Most importantly, the lens is sharp across the frame. Overall, I have been very pleased with the lens. Considering the price, and the attributes of the lens (build quality, sharpness, VC, and a 6-year warranty), I believe it is a real bargain. Based on this lens I will definitely being trying some of Tamron's new lenses.

This ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C DSLR cameras offers the finest of all Tamron worlds: best-in-class* 10-24mm focal length range (the 35mm equivalent of 16-37mm), the compact size of our previous SP AF10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II LD Aspherical [IF] (Model B001), plus vastly improved optical performance. It also includes state-of-the-art Tamron technology like VC (Vibration Compensation), a new HLD (High/Low torque-modulated Drive), Fluorine Coating, and Moisture-Resistant Construction. Combine this with exceptional resolution on everything from detailed landscapes to casual snapshots and you have a next-generation, wide-angle zoom that’s ready to go wherever your photographic vision takes you.
* Among ultra-wide-angle zoom lenses for APS-C DSLR cameras (As of January, 2017. Source: Tamron)
The optical design includes 16 elements in 11 groups. A new large aperture aspherical lens and LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements deliver exceptional resolution across the complete zoom range— combined with stable imaging across the entire frame. The lens also corrects comatic and transverse chromatic aberration, as well as distortion that often crops up on other wide-angle lenses. Together with Tamron’s unique BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating, which improves light transmission and suppresses reflection and dispersion on the lens surface, this new ultra-wide-angle zoom has been entirely reimagined to control flare and ghosting. The result: clear, crisp images, every time.
Tamron’s unique VC (Vibration Compensation) technology makes it easy to enjoy handheld, wide-angle shooting, even in low-light environments such as evening and indoors. While maintaining the compact design of our previous Model B001, Tamron has optimized the actuator and control algorithm in order to incorporate VC into our new Model B023. Now you can unleash the power of high quality imaging, without worrying about your images being spoiled by the jittery effects of handheld shooting.
HLD meets highly precise AF
With this lens, Tamron introduces the HLD (High/Low torque-modulated Drive) AF drive system. The excellent driving power of the all-new HLD enables stable and precise focusing, even with the large focusing lens elements used on Model B023. What’s more, the Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to make fine adjustments—without having to switch from AF to MF mode.
High performance packed into a compact body
A shortened overall length vastly improves optical performance while maintaining a compact size—even with advancements such as VC and the newly developed HLD. When combined with an APS-C DSLR camera, this lens packs a world of performance into a lightweight, portable body.
Model B023 is equipped with a Full-time Manual Focus override mechanism that enables the user to freely select the focus point. A photographer shooting with AF can instantaneously make fine focusing adjustments using MF, without having to switch the AF-MF mode back and forth. This makes it possible to enjoy creating photographic works with a more refined style exactly according to the users' intent, in wide-angle photography as well.
An electromagnetic diaphragm system, which has been a standard feature for Canon-mount lenses, is employed in Nikon-mount lenses*. More precise diaphragm and aperture control is possible because the diaphragm blades are driven and controlled by a motor through electronic pulse signals.
* Available only with cameras compatible with the electromagnetic diaphragm: D3100, D3200, D3300, D3400, D5000, D5100, D5200, D5300, D5500, D5600, D7000, D7100, D7200, D300, D300s (As of 01/2017)
The front surface of the lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that is water- and oil-repellant. The lens surface is easier to wipe clean and is less vulnerable to the damaging effects of dirt, dust, moisture and fingerprints.
For greater protection when shooting outdoors, leak-proof seals throughout the lens barrel help protect your equipment.
With this new ultra-wide-angle zoom lens, Tamron has merged beautiful craftsmanship with intuitive design. From the outer casing hugging the contours of the lens, to the deftly worked Luminous Gold brand ring and meticulous construction, the quality of this lens is second to none. Even details like the shape of the switch box, distant-scale window, and the precision and stability of the metallic mount reveal a commitment to functionality, as well as design.
