I originally purchase this filter to kill a bit of the clinical sharpness of a 105 micro lens for portraiture. It does exactly what I want of it. I was surprised at the amount of halation that only a 1/8 value delivers in nightcaps with lights. I had debated going stronger but 1/8 is a workhorse value good for multiple shooting environments.

Works great. I keep the 1/8 version on the end of my Fuji XF 27mm F/2.8 pancake lens all the time to soften up the images out of my X-T5. Gives a very nice, subtle softness to make the photos just ever so slightly more dreamy. Perfect for a walk around lens.

I use these on micro four thirds lenses. Delivers very pleasing results for the price. Nicely built. Does the job with its cinematic light rendering. Easy to work with in post, as it maintains enough information, even for a relatively small sensor like MFT.

Perfect for using in studio to emulate 1930's B&W portraiture, or outdoors for a strong backlight glow. In both cases, some backlighting is necessary for the best effects. Very useful.

Used this filter on two professional shoots. One was indoors with stage lights; filter produced a pleasant glow around spot-lights giving them a more pleasing effect. The other shoot was outdoors in bright sun and soft shade with people as primary subject; filter produced very subtle softening of skin and highlights. At this point I am seriously considering keeping this filter on my go-to event lens full-time. (e.g. #1/8 Pro Mist)

Pretty much permanently kept a 1/4 strength on my lens which was nice for a subtle softening effect, i wanted something more extreme so the full strength (1) was perfect

A good diffusion filter with a sturdier build than some alternatives. The Black Pro Mist claims to preserve contrast, and I tend to agree. Great for night photography with an in-frame light source, but also useful for softening faces and creating a somewhat film-like look in digital photos.

I tried this filter out for a night time street photography shoot in Philadelphia on Halloween. The filter added a nice glow to the headlights and street lamps throughout the session and gave me the results I was going for. I used this filter on the Sony 55mm 1.8 on the Sony A7III

I love this filter! I bought it to add it to my camera that I primarily use for streaming. It adds a nice soft and cinematic look without having to put a LUT on the footage.

It?s well-made and fits into my Leica Q2 with ease. The 1/2 strength is a little too strong for my liking, but I?m going to hold onto it because I do believe there is a use for it. The 1/4 strength is more of a right choice for stills, but it CCD all depends on your needs. The images are as expected - really soft with hot highlights. I haven?t tried it at night yet, but I?m looking forward to it.
