So after owning the TAPH700, TAPH100, and now the TAPH500, I can say with confidence that the TAPH500 is the best of the three sets from Turnstile audio, and is comparable with headphones like the AKG K553. The TAPH700 misses the mark somewhat due to its somewhat too powerful lower end and somewhat boxy coloration on the midrange in comparison with the TAPH500 and AKG's newer closed models like the 361/371 and 553, which are similar in tonal profile and quality to the TAPH500. Lightweight and durable, you can wear your TAPH500s for longer without ear fatigue. And the closed-back design creates better sound isolation against outside noise, conveying a precise sound. The headphones are also low impedance, so an external preamplifier is not needed, so they can be used with laptops, tablets, and smartphones. A 1/8th inch (3.5mm) to 1/4th inch (6.3mm) adapter is included for compatibility with multiple devices such as audio interfaces, mixers, and much more.
