So after owning the TAPH700, TAPH100, and now the TAPH500, I can say with confidence that the TAPH500 is the best of the three sets from Turnstile audio, and is comparable with headphones like the AKG K553. The TAPH700 misses the mark somewhat due to its somewhat too powerful lower end and somewhat boxy coloration on the midrange in comparison with the TAPH500 and AKG's newer closed models like the 361/371 and 553, which are similar in tonal profile and quality to the TAPH500. My Sennheiser HD560S open headphones are a step up in terms of resolution and depth of soundstage, but the TAPH500 has more midrange detail and lower distortion in the bass and overall and still has a huge soundstage and even has great depth and width to the soundstage, which isn't as common in closed headphones. The TAPH500, since it has a larger space in the ear cup around the ears vs the TAPH500 and TAPH100 produces the largest soundstage of the three. The TAPH100 is fine for an inexpensive headphone, but can be uncomfortable at times, in that regard the TAPH500 is more comfortable, and the TAPH700 is most comfortable with its deep, soft and plush ear pads, but if you have large ears, you will find the TAPH500 will give your ears more room to breathe.

Excellent sound, decent comfort, best overall model in the turnstile lineup.
