I picked this up as my first lens wider than 18mm for my Sony a7III. Its a great little lens. The build quality seems really solid. Its manual focus of course but at 12mm, its pretty darn hard to miss focus, doubly so with Sony’s focus peaking. The images are sharp and bright. Love this lens!

Out of the box, on the first day, the pictures were incredible. The lens can convert almost any average scene into a fascinating composition. No need to worry about the focus. So nice to have the EXIF interface and communication with my A7Riii. Rather than attempt a technical review, a picture attached may help

One of the widest 35mm full frame lens in its class. The Voigtlander Ultra-Wide Heliar 12mm/f5.6 with 121 degrees picture angle, yields minimal distortion. With it's rectilinear lens design, it delivers one of the higest picture quality with the one of the widest angles unmatched by any rangefinder lens today. An affordable, high quality lens, popular among full-frame Sony E-mount camera users.
Ultra wide angle shooting can present challenges, so a fast and smooth communication between lens, camera and photographer is crucial. Which is why Voigtlander incorporated this lens with a data communication feature. All lens-relevant data such as focal length, aperture and focal distance are transmitted to the camera. This data is shown in the view finder/display and used for metering and image stabilization. The selective aperture control system for full frame is used for the first time in this lens, a vital feature for film makers as it allows stepless and soundless aperture control.
