This lens has surpassed all expectations. Build quality image quality, all top notch. I prefer 40mm to 50mm or 35mm and I shoot It with a voigtlander bessa R3A . So it works perfect with native 40mm frame lines. This lens is very sharp. Bokeh also extremely smooth and transitions well. Also, I specifically Bought the single coat version for black and white, but it also has a fantastic rendition for color as well! This lens won’t let you down !

The Voigtländer 40mm Nokton f1.4 (Single coating) is so fun to use and my B&W look retro and sharp.

Leica M-Mount rangefinder users want speed, but the price is steep. Can Cosina's latest 75mm lens compete with Leica and Zeiss for a third the price?
A normal-length prime lens designed for M-mount rangefinder cameras, the Nokton Classic 40mm f/1.4 MC from Voigtlander blends the comfortable, unique focal length with an especially bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, which benefits working in low-light conditions as well as offering increased control over depth of field.
This edition of the 40mm f/1.4 also features a single coating, as opposed to a more common multi-layered coating, which offers a subtler image quality with slightly reduced contrast that is especially well-suited to black and white applications. The lens also features a manual focus design, for working with subjects as close as 2.3', and has a 10-blade diaphragm for a smooth bokeh quality.
