About WD WD Scorpio Blue 1TB Internal Hard Drive, 5400 RPM Speed, 8MB Cache Memory, 2.5" SATA II Interface

The WD 1TB Scorpio Blue Internal Hard Drive (2.5") is designed for use in portable computing solutions and features a 3 Gbps SATA interface, 5400 RPM rotational speed and 8MB buffer size. It can transfer data at speeds up to 3 Gbps (buffer to host) and 150 MB/s (host to drive). In addition, the hard drive offers 5.5 ms average latency and 4 sec average ready time.

ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WhisperDrive technology makes use of seeking algorithms to minimize operational noise. A shock rating of 400 G operating and 1000 G non-operating makes the drive capable of withstanding accidental drops.

The SecurePark feature safely parks the recording head and keeps it away from the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is off, thereby ensuring long term reliability and improved non-operational shock tolerance. Advanced power management features save power and improve battery life. In addition, the Scorpio Blue internal hard drive incorporates Advanced Format technology that increases media format efficiencies, allowing for larger drive capacities.

WD WD Scorpio Blue 1TB Internal Hard Drive, 5400 RPM Speed, 8MB Cache Memory, 2.5" SATA II Interface Features

  • Massive capacity: Storage capacity for 2.5-inch form factor drive with standard 9.5 mm height has arrived at a realm once thought to be impossible - up to 1TB giving you the capacity you need to keep your photos, music and files right there on your notebook
  • Quiet: In a notebook drive, silence is golden. WD's WhisperDrive combines state-of the-art seeking algorithms to yield one of the quietest 2.5-inch hard drive on the market. These algorithms also optimize the way a drive seeks for data, which significantly improves power consumption
  • Reliable: WD's SecurePark parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long term reliability due to less head wear, & improved nonoperational shock tolerance
  • Rugged: WD's ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks
  • Tested for compatibility: Perform tests on hundreds of systems and a multitude of platforms in FIT Lab and Mobile Compatibility Lab to give customers confidence that drive will work in their systems
  • Advanced Format (AF): Technology being adopted by WD and other drive to increase media format efficiencies, thus enabling larger drive capacities
