The sound is really like a real Piano, the weight of the keyboards is heavy as a Piano. My daughter of 9y start to learn, and the size is compact so is very versatil to put anywhere. The only disappointment is here in Chile I cannot get the stand. I want it, I would look so nice.

I like the concept and the design, it is truly a useful tool; especially if you do not have the room for a piano. However, you cannot treat it like a piano, and playout your music in its full strength, for the keys begin to rattle after a while, which is most unpleasant. Still, as I said it is a useful tool...

I bought this as soon as it came out because I've been waiting for years and years for a keyboard with a fully weighted action but with fewer than 88 keys, because there's no need or point to carting around the octaves at the either end for most kinds of gigs. I was just about to buy ANOTHER P-121 when I discovered that Yamaha has discontinued making them. I have no idea why, but this was a terrible decision. Whenever people I knew tried to get them, they were sold out - clearly it's popular and fulfills a need for people who ACTUALLY PLAY GIGS FOR A LIVING.

my biggest gripe is the low volume ... you need to keep the volume control all the way up, but many of the sounds are still way too low. i was especially disappointed with the harpsichord ... i had really been looking forward to finally having a realistic harpsichord to play, but that particular sound turned out to be so low in volume to render it unusable. if you buy this keyboard and you want adequate volume, plan on spending a couple hundred dollars more for a good sound system. all the demo videos are misleading because they are apparently using external amplification. i have and still do own many digital keyboards and the normal setting on those are almost always set about halfway up on the volume control. this leaves me with plenty of juice if i need to go louder. surely, yamaha noticed (or, intentionally designed?) that the P-121 volume is too low -- that is, unless you use headphones or external amplification and speakers. the whole point of me buying this piano was the small size and the built in speakers, so i would not need to complicate the whole setup by hooking it up to any external devices (powered monitors, external amp/speakers, computer for midi hookup, etc). the pros -- seems to be solidly constructed (i also bought the stand and bench), the weighted keys are acceptable and the overall size was exactly what i needed to fit into a small area. sadly, minus the need for external amplification, this piano would have been the perfect little piano for practicing. one consolation, the four acoustic piano sounds are pretty good and noticeably different in tone from each other. also sad is the fact that yamaha is going to produce and sell millions of these pianos with this very serious defect -- halfway on the volume control for normal room volume is common sense. the need to keep it full on is like building a car with an under-powered engine that pings and chugs up every hill it comes to. wow! it is amazing to me (with an electronics repa

The P-121 was designed with the player in mind. This stylish and modern digital piano was built to complement your lifestyle and inspire you to continue on your musical journey -- anywhere you want play.
Authentic piano performance
Piano quality only possible from Yamaha
The P-121 allows for incredible dynamics and expressiveness. The Pure CF Sound Engine includes the sound of the renowned Yamaha CFIIIS 9' concert grand piano. It is the result of over a century of acoustic piano craftsmanship combined with state-of-the-art technology and expertise. In addition, the Graded Hammer Standard 73-key piano keyboard provides a heavier touch in the low end and lighter touch in the high end, so it can be played with the expressiveness of an acoustic piano.
Authentic piano sound
The newly improved 2-way speaker system produces an expansive piano sound in both upward and downward directions. This gives the player a rich stereo sound, as if you were sitting at an acoustic piano.
Simple operation using the Smart Pianist app!
Smart Pianist allows you to control the many functions included in your Yamaha digital piano with your smart device. Voices, rhythms and other settings can be selected through the familiar touch screen of your phone or tablet, making it easy to control the functions of your piano.
You can also use the Chord Tracker function to learn how to play the chords of your favorite songs. Chord Tracker analyzes the songs from your music library on your iPhone or iPad and displays the chord symbols so you can play along! Find new ways to enjoy your P-121, using smart functions that only a modern digital instrument can provide.
Go and Play-Anywhere
The P-121 is light and compact for easy portability. With the dedicated keyboard bag SC-KB750, you can bring P-121 everywhere you want.
Bass and Drum beats jam along with you
P-121 has on-board Bass and Drum tracks that keep your playing in time and follow your harmony. There's a variety of rhythm patterns to choose from depending on the vibe you're going for. From rock to ballads, use these rhythms to add an element of fun to your practicing or use them as a backing band for your performances.
Optimal sound on the table
The new "Table EQ" feature enables the player to enjoy optimal acoustics, so even if you play on a hard, flat surface, you get the best possible sound.
The Stereophonic Optimizer-a new kind of headphone experience
When using headphones, the Stereophonic Optimizer lets players enjoy the same dispersed sound heard when sitting in front of an acoustic piano. With the Stereophonic Optimizer, Voices sampled from acoustic pianos appear to come from the body of the instrument. This provides a comfortable, natural experience that eliminates the downsides of performing with headphones.
Sophisticated Design
The P-121 was designed with simplicity of use in mind. The intuitive user interface makes using functions like Dual Voice or Split Keyboard a breeze. Every element of the P-121 is designed to help you stay focused on what really matters: your performance.
Smart Pianist is compatible with P-121
Have you ever tried to figure out what the chords are to your favorite songs? The Smart Pianist app is here to help! Smart Pianist helps you practice and perform your music by analyzing the songs in your music library and then displaying the chord symbols for you to play. The app also allows you to use your iOS device to control the functions included in your Yamaha digital piano for easy and intuitive operation.
Intuitive Controls
In addition to selecting piano Voices, you can use the Layer function to overlay Voices or the Split function to play different Voices with the left and right hands. A range of functions such as Transpose, Tuning, Pedal and acoustic settings can be configured easily and intuitively from the touch screen.
Play along with your favorite songs by following the chords
Smart Pianist analyzes the songs in your music library and displays the chord symbols so that you can play along with your favorite tunes.
Connecting an instrument to iOS devices with Smart Pianist V2.0 installed
An Apple Lightning - USB Camera Adapter and USB cable (sold separately) are required. Connect the USB cable to the USB TO HOST port on the instrument.
