Rock solid. Having an EVF eyepiece that can flip open to view as a regular 3.5" mini-monitor is a nice touch. HDMI loop in/out also great for video transmitters.

The EVF Pro is THE perfect entry level EVF. Actually it offers some really great features: - The mounting with the ZACUTO "saucy joint" is simply brilliant in design and functionality. You can easily tilt the whole EVF up and down and once positioned it keeps this position - really great. - The Eyecup has the same quality like the famous Zacuto Z-Finder, and has even a (removable) auto close flap that really can be operated with a movement of your face. - The whole Eypiece can be flipped up - so you can even use the EVF as a small screen. Magnets keep it safely in place until you flip it back down again. - In addition to the rotatable side mount there are two additional mounting points. - You find a std-sized HDMI Input and even an HDMI and headphone Output - so loop through is a snap. - Operation is easy and you find focus assist (b&w - which makes focussing easier), colour setup, pixel to pixel mapping, image rotation, colour temp - and much more. - Ideal option is Zacuto?s "LP-E6 to D-Tap Cable?. It makes the EVF Pro even lighter an allows operation with any V-Mount battery. Minor limitations are: - Recently I got a chance to use Zacuto?s ?Kameleon Pro EVF? - so if you ever used that one you naturally should not expect the same image quality from the smaller (and cheaper) EVF Pro. - The drop in lenses & anti-fog screens simply ?drop-in?. It works, but if you remove the eyepiece they drop out :-). A screw in option would be more practical. - If you need the headphone out (I don?t :-)) you have to watch the positioning of the ?saucy joint? - the plug will get in the way in certain positions. No big deal - normally you would use the ca, or recorder output anyway. Big Deal: If you buy the Zacuto ACT Recoil Rig (which I did - and honestly recommend for any serious work) you get the ACT Pro free with most ACT setups - the deal can*t be any fairer. But even for the regular price it is really worth the money!!

So the disclaimer for this review is that every negative to this I'm going to state is in the specs, so they're things you'll have knowledge of when ordering. Those negatives namely being: low-resolution display (makes sense for the screen size), very bulky EVF cover (most competitive products to this are the same size too, but for pairing with a mirrorless camera it becomes pretty unwieldy), and relatively quick battery drain (so make sure to pack extra LP-E6s or use a DTap adapter). With the price in mind though, those limitations make complete sense. I did find the focus peaking to be a bit overly pixelated for my personal taste, so I worked around this by having my GH5 send out a not-clean HDMI feed so I could use the camera's peaking instead. The aspect ratio frame guides are very helpful. One general negative though is I found the color rendition and temperature a bit off...I tried adjusting and got it close enough for general monitoring (not that you should set exposure or WB off this anyway) but found that a lot of the times when shooting in new lighting conditions, I had to re-adjust the display coloring to best fit. All-in-all, it has its strengths and weaknesses, but pretty much all those weaknesses are to be expected, especially for its price point. I'm looking forward to upgrading to a Kameleon EVF soon though!

Perfect EVF for Mirrorless Rigs
By JESSE I.
Rock solid. Having an EVF eyepiece that can flip open to view as a regular 3.5" mini-monitor is a nice touch. HDMI loop in/out also great for video transmitters.
The ACT EVF Pro is a 3.5" LED back-lit HDMI electronic viewfinder. It has a flip up eyepiece with our well known anti-fog optics, so it can be used as a small monitor or an EVF. It has a 1.8x magnification lens system and includes a +1 and +2 drop in diopter.
The ACT EVF resolution is 800 x 480, and supports input resolutions up to 1920 x 1080. It has an HDMI input with loop-through HDMI output with the ability to daisy chain live displays. It has a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack for audio monitoring.
It is self powered with an LP-E6 battery making it the perfect accessory for DSLM or DSLR shoulder rigs!It has plenty of mounting options with a 1/4 20 thread on the top, bottom and sides as well as the fluid 1/4 20 rosette AKA "saucy joint". It pairs nicely with our Axis Micro or Axis Curve depending on your camera and shooting style.
