Used Zacuto ACT Mounting Plate

My S1h ?? and presumably this would be true of any DSLR/mirrorless ?? didn?t work well with the long tripod plate on my tripod. This fixes that and then some. Problem was: 1) wide base of camera blocked the lock lever of the tripod head, and 2) Manfrotto tripod plate ?? long, for balance adjustment ?? had to be removed anytime I wanted to go hand-held. Seems pricey, BUT! The quick release directly engages with the Arca piece built into the Zacuto cage for my S1h. I use the QR knob on the left side, since I?m handling the camera from the right. Very, very secure and speedy! You do not want $8,000+ of gear hitting the dirt because you saved a few bucks on this key bit of gear. It?s brilliant.

The release pin holds the mount steady, but the cut metal edge immediately do a number on the finger tips. Painful to use.

The pictures definitely do not do this product any justice. This is made of all metal and is rock solid. This mounting plate will easily last a life time. The ACT Mounting Plate does come with an ACT Camera Plate as well, which is a nice bonus and very handy. I am currently using this baseplate with the ACT Basic Recoil Rig - everything is very easy to mount and unmount. After I attach the ACT Mounting Plate to my tripod, I can easily mount and unmount my C70 ACT Recoil rig is literally seconds. With some practice, my whole rig can go from my shoulder to the tripod and back to my shoulder again in less than 10 seconds. Yes, a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for! Tools like this will save a lot of time and headaches. The ACT Mounting Plate is so well made you will be able to pass this tool down to your grandchildren. Highly Recommend!
