Jeff J : The Ubertronix release cord which I'm seeing on the website does not match the description. what gives?JOSEPH W : Jeff J, The Ubertronix adapter cable is a good product. Our friends at Adorama, who are to be commended on their vast selection and great service, seem to give the description of the Nikon MC-DC2 remote control instead of the Ubertronix adapter cable that replaces it. The idea here is that the Nikon MC-DC2 remote control and the Canon RS-60E3 remote control are identical in function, they just use different connectors on the camera. The Ubertronix adapter cable allows you to replace the Nikon MC-DC2 that came with your Nikon camera with the Canon RS-60E3. The connector on the Canon RS-60E3 is a standard 2.5 mm audio connector. Adapters are available to switch 2.5 mm audio, which is kinda flimsey, to 1/8 inch audio or even 1/4 inch audio, which are readily avaiable. Using 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch audio as your remote control cable, you can extend the remote control as far as you like, have quick disconnects at both ends, choose the gender of the cable ends, include an amplifier in the cable run, etc. So the Ubertronix adapter cable is a good accessory for your Nikon camera. Not as pictured or described.

I got this product because it seemed to fit a specific need: a 2.5 or 3.5 mm TRS to an Nikon 8 pin jack, as a longer cable for a battery grip or a short cable for a remote release. The picture shows a Nikon 8 pin connector (used on the D3000/D5000 series), and that would match the MC-DC2 it mentions, as that release uses the 8 pin connector. However, when I got it into my hands, it has an 11 pin connector, used by the D3/D4 and similar. Although I'm sure someone could come up with a use for it, it's not at all as shown or advertised, either here or at the manufacturer's website.
