I am an old Sony VAIO fan. I've had seven--from the 1990s through this year. So I was happy to hear that Sony sold the VAIO line to another company, and that their VAIO engineers had gone with the new company. I bought the VJS132X0311S, top of the this line, i7, 1TB hard drive, 16 GB Ram. I could write about what I love--the light weight, the speed, the large backlit keyboard, lack of bloatware. Bt after a year of using this system, I am so annoyed that the power cord will not stay plugged into the unit, the rest does not matter. Even when it is plugged in, every five minutes the connection fails and I have to push it in farther. Such a stupid engineering mistake on what would otherwise be a nice system--for which I paid in excess of $2000 for, including shipping. The new company has a web site that is barely functional in English, and there is no way to contact them with confidence. It is also nearly impossible to find replacement parts. (Of course I checked to see if I had received a faulty power cord.) Never again. It may still be a VAIO, but there's no more Sony in it.

This is my third Vaio laptop; I have had it for 10 moths now. My two precious Vaios were Sony Vaio CS-280 bought in Tokyo in 2009 and Sony Vaio Pro 11. I loved Pro 11 very much and still love it, even though it no longer worked. I looked for another Vaio that is Vaio S13, and I'm very satisfied with it after I have it--excellent laptop.

This is my 3rd vaio. My first one was still with Sony When that one died after forever and almost a day... I had to get a new laptop I was talked into a surface Pro what a waste of money! NONE of my peripherals would work... This thing used 'mini ports and converters did not work. I told the sales people my use and the peripherals and they insisted was OK. WRONG! Surface Pro and many of the laptops out there use what I call mini ports... Btw no refund! I went with Vaio because it had the real ports!! It had everything I needed and then some. While I had it for awhile it did not c last as long as the first one... However I figure that perhaps it was the original new Vaio co.1.0. The line I just purchased I found many improvements! The on off button is way to find. The electrical interface is super easy to plug in and stays in. My only wish is that Vaio comes up with a docking station!!! I would purchase 2!!!!! I had the original vaio s for many years. Bought the s13 and this laptop pays homage to the original vaio models. The backlit keyboard is excellent to type and the laptop as a whole is very fast. Bought this on sale so the price was reasonable. Battery life is around 7 hrs so its pretty decent. Very happy with my purchase. I recommend Vaio to sell their own cases and skins to protect this amazing machine.

Bought the Vaio S13 a couple of months ago, the battery lasts only 2 hours when reading news. Otherwise I love it....My 7 years old Sony Vaio's battery is therefore better than the one of new Vaio.

I have only had the Vaio for a couple weeks now, but so far I am very impressed. I loved Sony Vaios and was happy to see the brand is back apparently with the same engineering team that was at Sony. Battery life is excellent. Performance ditto. I also like the fact that the power adapter is smaller then the old Sony Vaios and thus easier to pack for a trip.

I was very happy to discover that VAIO is back and live. My laptop arrived fast and in perfect shape. It's extremely user friendly, reliable, fast, sleek, and light. I'm 100% satisfied with the purchase. the only caveat is somewhat short battery life compared to other option available, but with the pretty little charger that comes with it, I have no reason to nag.

It is lightweight and durable. Far more durable than the Z series by Sony. I also enjoy the keyboard, which i feel like having longer stoke distance than my macbook pro. The only drawback is lacking thunderbolt 3 port.

I called Customer Service when considering a purchase and I was told if I liked my Sony VAIO, I would like the new VAIO's. All of my previous laptops have been the Sony VAIO. In 1998, I had the lavender 505. I can still access my old XP T350P from 2005, my all-time favorite. I bought the new VAIO S to replace my current Z11CGX from 2010 due to out-of-date display adapter problems. I am really happy with the new VAIO S13. Of the 4 versions offered, I bought the second one listed on this site. I was reluctant to buy since Sony was not involved, but so far so good. It is very light, fast, & pretty. Setup was easy. Windows 10 takes some getting used to. I have had this laptop for a week and it took me 4 days to tweak Win 10 and to disable their many intrusions, etc. Another of my favorite reasons for liking this new VAIO is the lack of proprietary software one might find on a Dell, HP, etc. I don't know if it is a Windows or VAIO issue, but the screen is not as bright or as clear as I'd like. I can set it to High Contrast and that helps a little. The fan can be noisy, but I set it to silent (and it is silent) and have not noticed any negative change in performance. This laptop is one pound lighter than my Sony Z11. I LOVE this laptop and hope VAIO continues to make more great products! I never want to be without a VAIO!

It is hard to think that in (nearly) 2019, Vaio is producing a laptop without a touchscreen. The laptop is a 100% hit on everything else, especially the fact that they INCLUDE a Gig Ethernet Port (something nearly no one else does any longer), an HDMI port, and much much more with the best keyboard in the industry. But very limited because of the lack of a touchscreen. We did finally order 1, but ordered 76 Lenovo Yoga for the company as every employee, when given the choice, WANTED the 2 in 1 form factor AND the touch screen. When VAIO switches to a 2 in 1 (Tablet + Laptop) WITH a touchscreen, we will reconsider it. With that said, I am the recipient of the one without the touchscreen, and though very annoying not to have that, I am super happy with the quality of the laptop.

The Vaio S is good, but only when it works. It is lightweight and fast. However, I have had this laptop for 2 years, almost to the day, and it has already crashed twice. This time I don't expect that I will be able to save the computer. I won't be buying a Vaio again.

So far I bought all the VAIO model laptop. It is always the best in PC laptop. My last one is the best: VAIO Z Flip high end. The current S model has some issues: 1. It can be pretty hot in the vent area. 2. Screen is not as high resolution as my Z Flip. Only 1080 P. The sharpness is not as good as Z Flip. 3. Battery does not last very long. (5 hours most). My Z flip was lasting more than 8 hours when I first bought it. 6. Finger print is not very good. I add my fingers many times. But it still can't recognize my finger print some times. Right now I have figured out how to make it work. But it takes many tries. Other than the above issues, this lap top is the best. Comparing with Dell, HP, it is far superior.

I really like this laptop. I would definitely purchase another but a touch screen. Vaio S is fast, finger identity is great and I don't have to worry about someone else trying to log in. Ideal for parents that have kids that use the computer...... they can better monitor what, where, and how their kids are using the laptop if the parent sets the finger identity up. I will recommend this for parents.

I've purchased three (3) Sony Vaio's. Amazing quality and I suspected such would be the same for this recent Vaio purchase. What I would later find within the entire purchase scenario was that the website was a bit off on SPECS and customer support via telephone was also misinformed. The website did not show the 13 Inch S with a backlit keyboard or a touchscreen. Having had the Sony Vaio's, I still had to call customer service to be sure. They shared that it did indeed have both. I ordered mine. It arrived with the backlit keyboard (although the website says otherwise) but there was no touchscreen for a high-end laptop. I had to return it. A touchscreen was essential. Now Vaio would require that I insure it and pay to ship it back. I did. There would also be a penalty of $100 I would have to pay as they called it a 'restocking fee' despite that I had never opened it or taken it out of the box. The misleading support from VAIO combined with the lack of valid information on their website questions what would happen if I ever needed it serviced. The Vaio experience for me was not a positive one. Will Vaio have the courage and responsibility to post a review that is not a 4-5 star? We'll see...

For as long as I can remember I have owned NOTHING but Vaios. At various times I attempted to use other brands but after living my life on a Vaio for 20 years, anything else is like downgrading from a Mercedes to a horse and buggy! There is truly no PC out there that can compete with Vaio. Currently Along with usual office work (including running Adobe suite and producing videos) I'm now live streaming too! My unit is just 8gb but it's working fine, though I'm drooling over the new 16gb with fingerprint reader... saving my pennies, maybe my next Merry Christmas! If you're reading this, i was not paid to tell you if you want POWER and SMOOTH in a SMALL PACKAGE, BUY A VAIO. It's the best laptop you'll ever own.

I love the back-light on the keys and the weight of this VAIO makes it super easy to carry around. I wish like ANYTHING I hadn't wasted my money again and again and again on substandard lap-tops. I have a VAIO but after a decade of unsurpassed performance, it just got tired and died. Thinking oh, no biggie, I'll just get a something or other and be done with it. WRONG! Keep your good mental health...get the VAIO.

This reincarnation of the old Sony Vaio line is a great computer to work with for photography. It's fast and compact, easy to travel with, and the graphics are wonderful. Hope they can keep up the good work on these.

Super light, fast, powerful, great battery life and beautiful design. The extra usb port in the battery charger is a great idea. I'm really happy with my VAIO S13 2016.
New VAIO S
Anytime, anywhere with VAIO. Every place can be your workplace.
Performance Beyond Extraordinary
The all-new VAIO S comes equipped with the latest Intel 8th Generation Quad Core processor for extraordinary performance. However we felt extraordinary wasn't enough. That's why we invented VAIO True Performance. We wanted to push the boundaries of what performance could be.
What is VAIO True Performance?
Intel CPUs, such as the Core i7 adopted by VAIO, have "Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0" installed, which enhances performance at peak usage. However, the period during which maximum performance can be maintained is limited by power consumption and temperature and the performance will degrade. "VAIO True Performance" is technology designed to maintain higher performance for a longer period of time by increasing CPU power limits and more efficiently eliminating heat.
Security Access Denied
Security literally at your fingertips. Instantly login to your VAIO S with the new fingerprint reader. Exceptional security to prevent malicious intent.
