I'm listening to Charles Mingus right now, and the words I have to describe this product is "Better Git It In Your Soul" Seriously it's worked great. I took HD-SDI out of a Datavideo SE-2000, changed it to HDMI for an additional live feed. I haven't run the battery flat yet, so I can't speak to it's life expectancy, each time I've used it in the field I had AC available so I used it. I've always ran it of battery power for tests though. I've also taken a 100' HD-SDI run out of an HXR-NX5U, and converted it to HDMI for monitoring at a focus group; it embeds audio but only 1 channel which was fine for my needs. It may have been something else in my setup that did that, but I did troubleshoot it because it didn't cause me any trouble. It's heavy and feels real durable, more so than their other miniconverters. There is an on/off switch and a white LED inside the unit to tell you it's on.
