Body stabilization support

It is cheaply made and the shoulder straps are kind of useless. You may need a chest strap that kepps the shoulder straps from falling off your shoulders.

Unless your a muscle man?

As I stated in the title, what I mean is, that if you have a larger camera setup, (heavier too) using the Glidecam alone does require some good arm strength, but the Body Pod helps greatly with the ability to carry the camera without killing your strong arm, as it displaces the weight across the belt and the shoulder straps, increases the ability to move around a little without having to buy the high end vest setups too. A decent value for the price, especially if your just starting up.

Glidecam great - Body Pod to be desired

The Glidecam is a great stabilization product for your video cameras. The Glidecam has a solid construction build, it is easily balanced (once you really learn how), and it creates wonderfully smooth shots. There is a learning curve to it, so if you have never used one before do not expect to start shooting smooth video out of the box.The manual is something to be desired. It explains how to balance it, but it's not enough. I found a great collection of videos online that someone created just for this product. They actually recorded a Glidecam representative showing how to balance the product. If anyone would like a link to these videos, contact me:don[@]The body pod, now that's another story. While the Glidecam is heavy and hard on the arms, the body pod is supposed to take a lot of the weight off of your arms by transferring the weight to your body. In theory it works just fine, but the body pod has a few design flaws. The shoulder straps should be connected together in the back, so that you wear it more like a vest rather than just two straps that wrap up over your should and under your arm pit. Without the straps connected at the back, the Glidecam kind of leans forward, and the straps tend to want to slide off of your shoulders. I modified my body pod to wear more like a vest.

About Glidecam Body Pod

The Glidecam Body-pod is a lightweight rigid support system which, when used with either the Glidecam 2000 Pro, Glidecam 4000 Pro, Glidecam HD-1000, Glidecam HD-2000 or Glidecam HD-4000 hand-held stabilizers, allows all the weight of the system to be supported by your body. The Body-pod allows you to shoot in cushioned comfort for indefinite periods of time. It takes the stabilizer's weight out of your hands and arms and displaces the weight onto your waist and shoulders. Stress and fatigue are virtually eliminated, allowing you the freedom to shoot events that require uninterrupted shooting. The Glidecam Body-pod is designed to allow you to quickly slide the handle of either the 2000 Pro, or 4000 Pro on and off its rigid support, so you can quickly switch back and forth between hand-held stabilization shooting and body mounted shooting. Since the support of the Body-pod is rigid and for the most part inflexible, it will not absorb and smooth out camera movements as well as a stabilizer which is being held in just your hands. However, shooting with your stabilizer attached to the rigid support of the Body-pod still yields results that are far better than unstabilized, hand-held shooting or shoulder supported shooting. Once you get used to using the Glidecam Body-pod, you won't want to shoot anything without it.
