Questions & Answers
ryan d : is the Glidecam XR-2000 good for balancing with the 5D canon Mark II???
What about the weight with the canon 5D mark II with 24-70 Lens n the XR-2000ERIN D : As long as your camera is under the weight limit specified for the Glidecam XR-2000 you will be able to balance it. Balancing depends on a number of factors including shifting the camera forward or back, and side to side - as well as equalizing the weight of the camera when sitting atop the plate on top of the Glidecam with the weight at the bottom - it is very tricky to accomplish the first time. Don't think you may have a defective unit because you can't balance it immediately. Adjustments are very much a matter of minute fine tuning but once you get it right, this device will do everything you expect it to do! Just keep trying different weights, camera positions and shaft lengths until your camera balances. It's like learning to ride a bicycle. Difficult to learn at first and effortless afterwards!JASON L : Yes it balances fine with the mark ii. It works with the 24-70 as well. Keep in mind if you use it with a zoom lens every time you change focal length you will have to readjust the glidecam balance.BEN G : Okay, I purchased this for my 5D Mark II and I personally find it to actually be a little too heavy with most lenses...even smaller, prime ones. I generally use the 24-105 and it's way too much weight for this resulting in me being unable to balance it properly no matter how long I try. I think this would work fine for the 60D or maybe even the 7D, but anything above that with a larger lens is a no go. I would suggest going for the larger one.
Andrew S : How easy is it to set the glide-cam up with the weights? Does it take along time to make sure it is balanced when you first use it?BEN G : Upon initial assembly and balancing, it's somewhat time consuming. I had a Canon 5D Mark II with a 24-105 lens attached and it did indeed take quite a while to balance. I found that my rig was in fact a little too heavy and I could never get a perfect balance, but good enough.
If you plan to use it with the same lens and body each time, once you take the time to do the initial balance properly, it should not take long to re-balance it again. If you switch lenses, it could take a few minutes to unscrew and remove/add weights.
All in all, it's a great device however it's definitely not easy to get the camera on and off of quickly and takes some finicking. If you need the luxury of something that's easier to get working with quickly and swap cameras a lot you may want to look into a full body rig.JOSHUA G : It's not super hard to set up the weights. It takes a really long time to get it balanced though. If you are planning on doing a lot of on the go shooting then I wouldn't recommend it. But if you have the time before each shoot to get it balanced then yes I would recommend it. JOSHUA G : It's not super hard to set up the weights. It took me about an hour to set it up and get it balanced.

Great Product, Great Price
I'm using this product to do RealEstate and family videos. It takes a bit of work to get it balanced, but once you do it works great.
