Fantastic Value and a Handy Travel Tripod Complete with Head

I have a couple of much bigger, heavier studio tripods but they are NO fun to carry out in the field. I picked up this little unit and have been pleasently surprised. I'm shooting Sony mirrorless with both fixed focal length and zoom lenses. Despite it's light weight and petite size, the tripod is very sold and sturdy even with something like the 70-200 GM mounted. The ball head is solidly built and locks easily. Its very smooth. Overall, this tripod is a great value for the money. Pluses: Size, weight and relative strength. Price/value. Operates smoothly and locks work beautifully. Flexible. Cons: The flipside of being small and easy to carry means it's also a little short. If you're well over 6 feet tall, you will need to bend for viewing through the viewfinder. However, using the rear screen makes this much less of an issue. There are limitations to what it can handle. If you are shooting large glass (400 2.8) this isn't the tripod for you.

Flimsy

I bought this tripod last year. Maybe used it 4-5 times and the head is broken. I’ve never had a Manfrotto head break in less than a year with barely any use, which tells me this is a cheap product. Go with a heavier one.

In general, it’s a very light and versatile tripod for a different kind of photography. However, i feel like it is too flimsy for a long exposure, landscape photography. More likely, I will exchange it for a more study one.

small lightweight has own bag. The gold attachment plate does not fit the Sony A7S and still slips on the others!! but very discreet carrying around and super light but also strong.

My main tripod now.

I don't ask for much, this tripod is sturdy and easy enough to adjust. The plate fits great on the a7 series since it was made for it but still works with other camera like the Epson R-D1.

Manfrotto Befree Advanced Special Edition Sony edition

Was looking for a nice compact travel tripod. This tripod fit the bill. And the tripod plate fits my Sony cameras like a glove. Also, really nice traveling case. The cons, still a bit heavy. But, that is to be expected considering it’s made of Aluminum. Was surprised the case was black & red!?! They should of made it orange & black, or just black. Over all I’m happy with the tripod, & would recommend this to anyone looking for a great tripod to fit the Sony camera line

Love the BeFree Advanced SE for Sony Alpha Cameras

I love the design, to go well with the Sony Alpha coloring. The height of the tripod is good and the leg angles work great! I enjoy the ball head, but I have to admit that I also ordered a fluid video head for this tripod as well. The quick release plate works perfectly for my Sony A7RII and has no play or looseness when attached. The ball head works great for getting any angle you might need for portrait photography, as well as locking in for vertical orientation on the camera. Overall, I love this tripod! Got a GREAT deal from Adorama, as well as lightning fast shipping!
