Takes polarizing to a whole new level
I always thought polarizes are all practically the same... I was wrong.... This filter is so good I'm sticking with Kaesemann's (B+W) going forward. The pearl slows the lens at least by 2 stops (maybe even 2.5) on a 50mm f1.8 ii Canon The Nikon slows the lens at least by 1.5 on both L lenses 24-70 (gen i) | 70-200mm is (gen 2) 2.8 The B+W 0.5 stops on a 35mm f/2 is usm I own: An old school Pearl Linear Polarizer 52mm Nikon circular polarizer II 77mm (This one) B+W MRC F-Pro 67mm
A win-win purchase
Typical polarizes absorb approximately two stops of light. This new design only requires one stop! That's greater depth of field, a higher shutter speed or lower ISO. Take your pick. It's well made, but I would purchase the lower profile version if your lens is below 24mm on a full-frame camera.

Known for reflection reduction and improved color, polarizing filters are valued tools, especially for ever-changing outdoor environments. The trade off historically has been light loss. Use of standard polarizing filters comes with a loss of up to 2.5 f/stops of light transmitted, which can increase desired depth of field or shutter speed. However, the B+W next-generation HTC filters utilize a proprietary layer of specially selected, high-transmission polarizing foil, which reduces light loss to just 1-1.5 stops making them work much better in low light situations.
