I've had several Sony cameras over the years and a collection of BP-series batteries. The BP-U60 has always been my favorite. Perfect combination of battery life and weight. I'm now working with a Sony FS5, and this battery balances the camera perfectly with a good lens and shoulder support. With one of these and the small and light BP-U30, you can shoot just about all day (around 9hrs, read: "reasonable" shoot day!), and can trust the charge not to suddenly drop at 25% like some off-brands. If you're coming from Canon DSLR's, yes these batteries are expensive, but each one takes the place of 4-5 LP-E6's, so the expense is absolutely well worth it. If you've pulled the trigger on a new Sony, get at least one of these in the same order. The battery will probably outlive the camera at the rate of replacement these days. You won't regret it.

14.4 volt, 56Wh battery for XDCAM Ex camcorders. The BP-U60 uses a communication line with the Ex camcorder, whereby the precise remaining capacity can be displayed on the camcorder's LCD and viewfinder.
The battery information displayon LCD is available even while the camera power is off (not on EVF).
The BP-U30 and BP-U60 also have LED displays to indicate the remaining capacity of the battery at the push of a button on the battery itself.
