We used the Sony FS7 Cinema bundle with a Gratical HD. The perfect VF for the FS7. Although I wanted the Gratical Eye, I lack have the proper power for it. We had to opt for the HD which we know the have the same superbness. I have strife with the original VF for the FS7. Too boxy and bulky. The Graticals are amazing. Clear, pristine and makes filming and fun. I also have SmallHD's Focus 5" monitor. What's also great about the Gratical HD is the HDMI loop. We ran the SSmallHD monitor into the Gratical HD and the that into the FS7. Flawless workflow. When needed critical focus, we used the Gratical. For monitoring, used the SmallHD. All using the single HDMI port of the camera. It being light for such a great VF, rocked on the Axis mini was great. Easy to move and adjust to where I needed, for the perfect and comfortable viewing position. Using the Gratical felt very comfortable run and gun shooting, as a point of contact. Kept the camera very stable. The look is so clean and clear. Quality unmatched. This is 1 piece of gear every Sony FS7 use should own. I'm after the Gratical Eye. I have both or all 4 of my eyes on this great piece of gear. My next investment. Thank you again Zacuto. Will do review that as well. 1 of my favorite pieces of gear. This bundle is the perfect kit for the FS7. The base plate is superb. To be able to lighten the run and gun load from the handles is A+. Being that the FS7 is mid-weight, between a DSLR and heavy cinema camera, to just grab and move is priceless. And then to just slide and snap right back on baseplate and tripod is an ease. I have the previous version where the baseplate screws directly to camera. Sooooo glad they separated the base plate and added the sliding plate!!!! Great move Zacuto! The handles with hand grip is very useful. Going handheld and the ease of configuring positions of the arm extension is flawless. With one hand and seamless even while shooting. It made filming fun. Fun and gun shooting. Easy to fold up and set down if needed. It made points of contact with camera very stable. The whole rig just works. Built Ford-like tough and works. Really liked and enjoyed this rig. I have the MK1 FS7, so the handles I used didn't properly fit my original hand grip. I just didn't use the hand grip and still rocked the rig. Looking forward to your next inventions and improvements of gear. Thank you Zacuto!!

Much has been said about the extraordinary array of exposure, waveform, false color, and other monitoring features that make the Gratical a perennial favorite of working DPs. Additionally, old-time film DPs like myself still love pressing their eyes up to a quality viewfinder to ensure the most exact framing, and to emulate the “film experience of decades past.” But let’s talk about adaptability. As a freelance DP, I’m sometimes required to use cameras other my own, often owned by production companies (as opposed to rental houses) and producers expect you to work with these under-accessorized rigs. That’s when you count your blessings if you’re fortunate enough to own and bring along your Gratical, as it allows you to use a different imaging system while it makes monitoring a constant. And nothing is as frustrating as showing up on set and being unable to adjust another manufacturer’s diopter settings to your eyes. (I’m looking at you, Alphatron - or at least trying.)

I've used several EVF's in my career thus far, and Zacuto has set a new precedent with the Gratical HD. I couldn't find a single issue with the EVF. At first, it seemed a little large for me. But with the addition of the new Z grip trigger for my FS5, the size actually benefited by balancing out my rig. The Gratical HD comes with ALL the fixings. Seriously, from peaking, to luts, to zebras, and waveforms. This EVF is a cinematographers dream. From doc to narrative, Zacuto's Gratical HD is the perfect tool to complement any production.

This thing is built super solid. Simply amazing with all the features. Paired it together with the recoil rig makes it a real pleasure to shoot. I love that it not only has both HDMI and SDI but it can do cross conversion on the output. My favorite element is just being able to have a clean image with all the scopes etc under the image, much easier to see what you really are shooting.

To be honest, I was a little nervous when I handed my credit card details over for this baby. But damn, when you look at the picture and change the diopter for your eye you see nothing but sweet, sweet picture. The size of the overall image is great. I was a little unsure when looking at the specs, but it really is perfect. It's just so clear. I can't harp on that enough, it's so clear. Did I mention how clear it is? My c300 mark II looks amazing through this and I've even replaced my Red Epic EVF with this one. Having buttons on the side you don't need to take your eye away for is awesome - and I love being able to customise. Great product and one that you can use for any camera - although, I would try not to drive over it in my car like the Zacuto guys :)

Working with the Gratical HD by Zacuto has made the lives on my production team so much easier. Our primary documentary camera is the Sony FS5, while it has two viewfinders on the camera, none come close to the clarity and usability of the Zacuto Gratical HD. Providing a large beautiful image makes focusing and framing so much easier for the camera operators, producing a better final image. I will be putting a Gratical on every camera I use going forward, no question.

I believe the Gratical HD to be the best viewfinder on the market. It's durable, ergonomic, and fairly priced. It's high-definition display allows me to clearly focus images, as well as import third party looks to my images quickly. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

I have been using the Gratical HD for quite some time now and it has become an important tool for me in getting exposures right. I love that you can upload LUTs to it and the pre-defined LUTs worked very well, too. I still prefer the HD to the EYE, mostly because I use the four buttons on the side all the time to turn display functions on and off while I am shooting (checking false color exposure, for instance). Lastly, I thought the strange eye-cup design would annoy me at first, but it's turned out to be a very clever way to prevent the sun from frying the display.

I always had issues getting exposure and finding focus while working outdoors in the sun. The Gratical is so clean and crisp, the sun is no longer an issue! It has all the scopes inside along with zebras and peaking which I was always use to when using broadcast gear. You can also add custom LUT's into the Gratical so you can see what you will be getting in post if you are shooting cine or SLOG. Awesome bit of gear! Well worth the $$

The Zacuto Gratical HD Micro OLED electronic viewfinder uses an extremely powerful FPGA dual core processor and the latest Micro-OLED displays to provide a hugely expanded contrast range. Micro-OLED display supports high pixel density with unparalleled resolution, true blacks, gamma and contrast range. The Gratical HD has 5.4 million pixels on a 0.61" diagonal screen no bigger than the size of your thumbnail. The Gratical HD includes two HDMI and two SDI ports with cross conversion from HDMI to SDI. Weather resistant covers prevent moisture or debris from getting in open ports.
You'll be amazed with how sharp the image is. The internal field of view is just the right size so that the image is large, but not so that your eye has to roam to see the entire image at once. It features a built in -1 to +4 diopter range and Zacuto's latest anti-fog coating formula. An auto-closing eyecup door prevents sunburn display automatically without any action by the operator. Mount the Gratical HD to your Next Generation Recoil via the ARRI rosette on the side with an Axis Mini. You can also mount the Gratical HD with the 1/4 20 screw hole in the bottom.
