It boasts a constant 2X squeeze ratio across four distinct focal lengths, ensuring consistent image quality and the classic anamorphic features that cinematographers love. These include the signature elliptical bokeh and distinctive flares in blue, amber, and silver options. The Proteus Series lenses are designed with a universal T2 aperture, offering excellent image quality and the flexibility to capture close-up shots with a minimum focusing distance of 55cm. This makes them a versatile choice for dynamic on-set needs. The Proteus 2X Anamorphic Series utilizes a patented front anamorphic design, ensuring a robust optical composition. This design allows the lenses to deliver modern image sharpness while retaining the vintage look of anamorphic characteristics. The constant 2X squeeze ratio is delicately designed to exemplify the classic wide-screen anamorphic look for cinema use. It works seamlessly with 4:3 or 6:5 sensors, delivering a 2.66:1 or 2.4:1 image after de-squeeze. This allows filmmakers to use the footage entirely or crop to a 2.39:1 with minimal loss of resolution. The iris ranges from T2 to T22 for the entire series, supporting filming in all light conditions. The lenses can render an organic waterfall focus roll-off in the background, creating a ravishing shallow depth of field at a large aperture. The optical performance of the Proteus Series is fine-tuned to deliver excellent color rendition and contrast.
