Beware, do not buy this dash cam it is completely unreliable. Mine will power up and beep 3 times to tell you it is recording and then freeze up and stop recording video at least once per week. The camera has a feature where it will beep 2 times ever second if it is not recording however it is completely useless. The camera will crash and freeze but you will not get any beeps. I have tried two different brands of memory cards and the issue happens with both of them. Now the problem is even worse in that I get the 3 beeps at power up and one at power down which indicates normal operation, but no videos are recorded. I pulled the memory car today and there are no videos for the past 4 days. Anyone who has gone to school to be an electronics engineer learns in the first month that for a watchdog timer circuit you build a separate discrete watchdog timer circuit that must be reset using an edge triggered signal by the microprocessor before it times out. Edge triggering assures a reset line stuck high or low will not keep the timer in a reset condition and allow the time out condition to take place if there is a problem, in this case beep twice every 2 seconds. However, the amateur engineers at VIOFO made the watchdog timer part of the microcontroller, so when the microcontroller freezes, runs away, crashes, or stops working, so does the watchdog timer and there are no beeps indicating the dashcam is no longer recording. This is just laziness in hardware design and VIOFO should be ashamed of their engineers as well as this product.
