The Vanguard GH-200 advertises 3 functions, 2 of the 3 work stupendously. The 3rd is a panoramic function which is supposed to click every 5 degrees. There is a very slight tactile click every 5 degrees but with the weight of the camera added the rotation is smooth rendering the feature not valuable. There is a degree scale on the base of the head and you can still use sight to navigate 5 degrees but the advertised feature is still not there. I spoke to Vanguard tech support and they mentioned that the first generation of this head had an audible click but those using the tripod to take video were complaining of capturing the clicking noise. So maybe the 3rd generation of this product will get it right.

I love this tripod head. It holds firmly with no wiggle. It's easily adjustable, even for my small woman hands. I can adjust camera position so much more quickly now and it makes shooting with the camera on the tripod much easier and more enjoyable.

I have it mountrd on a Slik Pro 700 Dx...I take a lot of wildlife and landscape pictures...it has become my third arm...I am learning that to get really sharp pictures, you need a tripod and the Vanguard GH-200 Pistal Grip in my book is awesome...I shoot a Canon T2i and a 7D...do some planning on birds in flight...Tha pistal grip is really nice for that..one turn of a knob and it's locked into place for still shoots..i use remotes for both cameras..Going to buy another Vanguard as soon as the back ordered on another Silk tripod comes in for macro shoots...

Vanguard's GH-200 Pistol-Grip Ballhead permits you to lock, unlock and reposition your gear easily with one hand, so that your other hand is free to make lens adjustments. A 360deg. panning mechanism has 72 built-in click stops for precise positioning for panoramic photos. There's also side-to-side tilt of -32deg. to +90deg. and -8deg. to +90deg. of back to front tilt for a wide range of camera movement.
A dual-locking quick shoe mechanism prevents accidental release to protect your equipment. A friction control system allows you to modify the amount of friction on the ball to accommodate changing equipment weight, such as switching to heavier lenses, while the anodized center ball allows extremely fluid movement without sacrificing control. The QS-60 quick release plate is included.
