Questions & Answers

Shopper : I have a Sirui tripod - will this ball head fit?CHARLES M : The Vanguard Pistol grip has a 3/8-16 tapped hole at the base. It should come with a 1/4-20 to 3/8-16 bushing. In either case it will fit the tripod.JEFF K : this ballhead will fit any tripod with a 1/4" threaded post
PATRICK L : Are the provided shutter release cables compatable with the Nikon D-300 and D-80 ?RONALD E : Hello, Although the product description in the website shows that only two cables are included in the box with the head, my package came with all five, two for Canon, one for Sony, and two for Nikon (TN1, and TN2). The TN1 has the Nikon 10-pin connector, which is good for the D700/D300 family. However, for the TN2, the package label states: "D90/300 family/D5000 family/D7000 family (P.S. not compatible to D80)". I have a D700 and D800, so I know that the supplied 10-pin connector works. I do not have a D80. BTW, I read one review where the buyer was complaining that the jack in the pistol grip was so loose that the cable would constantly fall out; apparently this problem has been solved.RAZA I : Supplied shutter release cable did not work for my Nikon D 700 or my Nikon D 4, luckily, I had out of manufacture 10 pin adaptor which which worked well for both. The adaptor is available for $15 to $20 from local camera store.JON R : The cables with the unit DO NOT fit the D300. Additionally, the mechanism is stiff and difficult to position easily. I'm sorry I spent the money on it.
Shopper : Is there a cable for Sony A-77 cameras?ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, this unit comes with cables to fit select Nikon and Canon SLR/DSLRs.

Love this grip!

Grip holds the d4; 70-200; sb910 without slipping. Quick to adjust and re-lock in place. Only drawback is loading the QR plate -- have to angle it into the bracket which is a bit awkward -- prefer sliging it into the slot with a button release. Otherwise, this grip head would rate 5 stars.

Unique ball head with a glitch

This ball head is unique, and highly usable, but it has a bad defect. The eighth inch shutter pin port in the head handle is manufactured incorrectly, and pin easily drops out. The port is too big for the pin. I've talked to Vanguard about this, and they are working to correct it, but until they do, I'd highly recommend waiting to purchase. Even with the pin taped in, it wabbles in the port.

Ground breaking. Innovative. First-of-its-kind. GH-300T pistol grip ball head with shutter release trigger reinvents the standard for what a tripod head can do for you.

This industry-leading grip head with built-in remote shutter release on the handle enables you to trip your camera's shutter without pulling your hand from the grip. It's ideal for pursuing and capturing fast-moving subjects, even while making zoom lens adjustments. To operate in bulb, or 'B' mode, simply slide the release trigger mechanism upward to manually control exposure time by depressing the release trigger. GH-300T employs a universal 2.5 mm DC shutter release cable input jack and comes with two cables compatible with 80 percent of DSLRs on the market.

GH-300T also features two axes for panning: a 72-clickpoint panning base just below the camera mounting plate for perfectly aligned panoramic images, and a second 360-degree panning base at the tripod mounting base for horizontal panning and following subjects in motion.

With a locking force rated for over 17.5 lbs., GH-300T supports standard and large zoom lenses with impressive security. Its universal, 38mm quick release system with clamp knob and safety pin is compatible with other 38mm systems and allows for micro adjustments forward and backward while providing a steady center of gravity and no worries of accidental release. GH-300T provides smooth movements with impressive ergonomic control, thanks to its anodized center ball and Grip Position Release system.

The GPR System with pistol grip-style handle lets you unlock, reposition and lock gear into place with ease. Depression of the handle allows 360-degrees of panning movement and -32 to +90-degrees of side-to-side tilt and -8 to +90-degree back to front tilt movement all round. It instantly locks into place by simply releasing the handle.

Its Friction Control System allows you to modify the level of resistance on the ball to accommodate changing equipment weight. GH-300T's handle also rotates 360 degrees to one of 8 positions for maximum comfort while shooting.
