My eight-year old son purchased this to compliment his Nikon D3100 and I think for him it is an excellent tripod - perfect height for his size and an excellent entry level tripod. I suspect as he grows older, if he keeps up his passion for photography, that he will want a taller more substantial tripod. But for now this is the perfect one - built well, light and very stable.
