I have used this for moon shoots in 15mph winds with no blur. Used it for engagement photos and long exposure shots. Mount my gripped 50d with 150-500 to it and never worry about it. Knobs are well designed. The lower column will be tight if you grip your camera and then try to do some macro but not a big deal to me.

Don't be put off by the price. This tripod puts more expensive rigs to shame. I have never been so pleasantly surprised by the quality of anything I have bought on-line. The ball head is more than worth the price of the whole rig. Great for tall people – I am about 5'9" and I never have to extend the center column. If I have the battery grip on my D200 the viewfinder is above eye level. I decided to shorten the column so that I can use the ball head at the lowest leg setting. The tension of the leg clamps is easily tightened to compensate for wear with the included combo wrench/screwdriver that clips on a leg. This was a selling point for me because I have just retired a tripod with worn-out clamps. The ball head is large and built like a tank, but the weight rating (70 lb ?) is really over the top. It easily handles everything I own, but I found the limit with my friend's D3x plus 70-200 f2.8. (Actually, he thought it was better than one of his that cost almost triple.) There was no problem in landscape, but when I laid it over 90 degrees, it drooped down to the bottom of the notch unless it was locked tight. This is no problem for me because I use an L-bracket, plus I can't afford the equipment that might overload it. The tripod legs are rated at 22 lb but I would say they could handle more than that. They do show how they can sell this model so cheap. The metal parts are of very good quality, but there are plastic parts here and there. The only one that bothers me is the socket for the center column, but it's silly to complain about such niggles at this price point. It works extremely well. Very highly recommended.

When I received the package I was amazingly surprised !! The box was heavy , I took the tripod out and boy I was in love =) , compared to my old tripod it looks like if it was it's Dad I compared it to my friends manfrotto tripod and boy even he was surprised on how well it's built , don't go out spending $350 dlls for those brand name tripods , this is the one you want One last note , it is really high so if you are short like me (5'7") you are not going to be able to extend it all the way up as it is really tall hehe

• The tracker offers maximum stability for the outdoor photographer or spotter. It has a multi-adjustable ball head with a dual locking quick shoe release system. This series offers 28mm or 32mm tubular legs that are extremely stable and more lightweight than most tripods on the market. The legs can also be adjusted to three different angles to facilitate use on uneven ground or low angle shooting. The column is easily reversed for macro or copy work. The hexagon center column also offers additional security for heavy equipment. This unique series provides the best of both worlds when it comes to features and value.
