Scott S : Does the head pan upward for photographing up into trees or the moon?Wai W : Like others have said, the mount point is fixed. If you are planning to add a ball mount or something similar, please check the weight of the mount + camera.DENNIS D : No. You need a separate head of some variety to attach to the monopod that will allow pan and tilt in some way.James F : Not without an additional monopod head. But I added the Manfrotto 234RC Monopod Swivel Head and I love the versatility of this monopod. I use it to take photos of the moon with a Nikon Coolpix P900 as often as I can. It provides great stability.FREDERIC H : has a standard 1/4" 20 thread screw that can go into the bottom of the camera or a ballhead. If you use a GoPro with the 1/4" mount you can rotate the camera to point up or down.DM S : No. There is a rubber cap over a quarter-inch screw that will go into your camera bottom. You remove the cap to uncover the screw to add an attachment ball if you wish to rotate the camera in any direction other than by rotating the tripod. I would advise planning to add the attachment.JOYCE M : There is no head included with this monopod, just a 1/4 inch screw extending from its round top; You could use that screw to mount a head you purchased separatelyERIK Q : No. You would need to add a ballhead.MARK M : No, it is threaded for a tripod head, or mount your camera directly and you can just tip it back a few degrees for a slightly upward shot.
Johnny T : Is this monopod stable enough for full frame dslr with 70-200mm zoom?ERIK Q : I would say no. It was for my mirrorless and 100mm but I wouldnt go much more than thatROHIT G : I use with the F4 Sony version for which it is good. Haven't tries the F2.8 lens on it though I magine it would be fine.
Johnny T : What is its length when fully retracted?ANDREW R : Vanguard VEO 2 AM-264TR Specifications Material Aluminum Color Gray Maximum Height 64.6" (164.1cm) Folded Length 22.5" (57.2cm) Load Capacity 13.2 lb (6kg) Leg Sections 4 Leg Lock Type Twist-lock Male Thread Size 1/4"-20 Weight 1.96 lb (890g)

My favorite monopod

It's now my favorite monopod. The three feet at the bottom make it well worth any extra cost. Though light, it's a very stable platform for a monopod.

Lightweight monopod with three legs can free stand with smaller cameras, else hold on

Lightweight monopod with three feet can be used in lieu of a full tripod if the camera is small and light if you want to let it free stand. If the camera is heavy I would not trust leaving it free standing with only the three legs. For me I use it to hold a GoPro which is perfect for it.

nice monpod for light to mid-weight use

nice unit, seems secure, like the tilting legs, just wish it was rated for a little more weight

Not my first choice

It works. But not flawlessly. First time out bottom leg section came completed detached from monopod. And the twist to tighten the sections is only ok. Once you get all that worked out it will stand and hold your camera.

Disappointed. Not what I was hoping for.

I am disappointed. First, my Manfrotto head does not fit it, so I can't tilt my camera for sky photography (which is my favorite subject). It also feel flimsy when fully extended.

Very good equipment

Very good piece of equipment. I used it a couple of days ago in low light church wedding. The only downside, it's a bit heavier than I imagined it would be.

Sturdy and light

Sturdy but light. Easy to unfold and adjust. Only 4 because when the thinnest leg is all the way out ot loses a little sturdiness

Excellent for the price

I bought this monopod from Vanguard because I really enjoy my Vanguard Alta Pro Tripod. I appreciate the affordability of this monopod, as I do not need anything more rugged at this time. It is well made, and is comfortable to carry and position. It doubles as a walking stick but the feet stick out some when folded so it's just a little awkward. The feet are plastic so I am mindful to be gentle with them. I use this mostly with prime lenses up to 300mm mounted on a Nikon D810 and it gives good stability, I would use something heavier duty for anything longer, though. I do not use very heavy lenses, nor do I do very rugged hikes so this is a good choice for me.
