I bought this for my wife to replace the cheap aluminum tripod that she has been fighting with for years. It was well reviewed and I thought the ball head would better suit her rather direct manipulation instead of a tilt head. She is used to me buying "quality" and she didn't complain too much about the price at first. (She thought that $60 was a high price for a tripod) After using it for a few days at our family 4th of July get together, she is mad that I didn't spend the money sooner. This is a giant leap for her, and I will say that I am impressed by how solid this tripod is. Every control knob and collar positively locks with minimal pressure. No need to crank down on the adjustments to make them hold like some others i have looked at. The tension on the ball can be adjusted precisely to where you need it to be. What has really gotten my attention though is how sturdy the carbon fiber legs are. Even the smaller lower sections hold well. She hasn't used it in any wind conditions yet, but I can believe that it will be solid. I did the mechanic "lean on it" and "shake" tests and it seems like a solid unit. If there were one thing that was a bit clunky for her, it is the way the post folds for carrying. She forgets or can't see (not sure which) the little button on the bottom of the post that facilitates raising it up so it will fold. Not a big thing at all. I think for her, and maybe for most hobby photographers this will be a lifetime purchase. I can't imagine her needing anything more than this for what she does with her camera.

This is a decent tripod. I wouldn't use it for really heavy setups or in really windy conditions as I get a fair amount of shake in high winds. A heavier tripod would be better for that application but for most everyday shooting this thing is great and lightweight. It doesn't bog me down while walking around

At the sale price this is a solid, light-weight tripod. Just wish it went sliiiightly taller, but it's a travel tripod, so I guess it comes with the territory.

The VEO 2 235CB, for it's purpose, is a good alternative for it's big brother, the 265CB. As it is for travel, it is less robust than the larger tripods from Vanguard. I find it good enough for most travel photography, although it is less stable than my full size Alta 2 265. All the more reason to hang a bag, or add in the stone bag for when the wind kicks up. Overall, well made and well designed for it's function.

The Tripod is very light weight, the friction grips work well and the ball head is able to support my A77ii just fine. I took it to the Cliffs of Moher and it works just fine for keeping things steady. You have to keep your hand on the camera if there is any wind and you don’t have a handy weight to hang from the center shaft. It folds down small enough to fit in a large camera bag or small suitcase.

The only drawback is the last (thinnest) extension is a bit flexible/less stable. You must take care to ensure the tripod is seated firmly (if using at full height with the last/thin extensions). Wind can be a issue also (if fully extended). Also, there isn't a purpose-built weight hanger (but the knob that secures the center tube works well enough).
