This is a great tripod if you need something for Macro or table top use. It is extremely stable with it's wide leg stance and capable of holding quite a bit of weight. I have mounted my Olympus E-30 w/grip and 70-300mm Zoom and it stays rock solid. You can't go wrong for the money.

Opened the package from Adorama a few days ago. The build quality is good. Its stable with the D90 and a smaller lens (35mm 1.8) and a superzoom (18-200 VR). Perfect for tabletop placement. I find I don't like the size of the head when not with the tripod. This will take some getting used to and will defeat the purpose of a quick release as I remove it for general photos. I'll place the camera in the corner during the great unwrapping in three weeks with the kiddos. I have yet to macro/micro shoot it, but am looking forward to the winter and spring outside shots. With the camera, it freaks out the cats being a foot high. I will probably buy a larger tripod from Velbon based on this experience when the need arises.

My first tripod. Was going to buy a less expensive one but my husband was familiar with the Velbon name so suggested this. I use it most for photographing and recording birds. I can see I'll find plenty more uses for it in the future.
