Velbon EX-530 tripod is okay for light applications and easy transport to the field.

I needed a tripod to use with my Celestron C-90 spotting scope. The tripod I already have is very stable and I will be using it for photography applications. I knew up front that the Velbon EX-530 is light weight and designed for transporting to the field. It does what I need it to do and for the price I didn't expect a professional grade tripod. I am somewhat disappointed in the lack of the level of stability that I am used to and some of the plastic parts should have been made of aluminum in my opinion, but again it was designed for transporting to the field and has a low price. So far it has been an easy to use tripod for my C-90 and as long as I don't bump it it is satisfactory for my application.

Light but sturdy, pan and tilt are smooth, portrait setup is simple. Built-in platform level is welcome. Would be quite tolerable for day-to-day studio use.

The Velbon Ex-530/F Aluminum Tripod is a 3.2lbs lightweight camera support with a three-way pan and tilt head. It can reach a maximum height of 61.4" with the geared center column fully extended and it has a minimum working height of 48.9". This portable tripod folds down to 22.4". The Ex-530/F will support a maximum of 9.0 lbs. The camera plate turns 90deg. to the right for shooting in portrait mode. The diameter of the tripod legs is 0.90" (23mm).
