The Velbon UP400 was my very first monopod I ever bought, and I started photography with a point and shoot film camera. Even after I used my DSLR's, this trust monopod has held up real well for me. It's a solid light and STURDY monopod. I'd recommend buying a ball head so you can get shots in vertical and horizontal shots. It's good money spent.
