A terrific travel tripod

I do a lot of travel to out of the way places so the main features I looked long and hard for in a tripod were: small folded size, full extended size, light weight, reliable, easy and quick setup. The Velbon UT 43D met and exceeded all of those requirements and it has turned out to be far steadier than I thought I had any right to expect from such a lightweight folding tripod. I am very much impressed.

The Velbon UT 43D 6-Section Aluminum Travel Tripod with Ball Head features a remarkable ratio of maximum height (61.6") to folded length (11.6"), making it an excellent choice for backpackers and other travelers who need a lightweight & compact yet highly functional camera support.

That ratio is a result of several factors: the two-section center column, the six sections of the aluminum legs, the fact that each leg section disappears completely inside of the one above and the 180Deg. folding of the legs, by which the feet line up perfectly with the top of the included QHD-53D ball head. Together the head and the UT 43D tripod weigh just 2.6 lb.
