It is one of the best rangefinders I've used yet! Very accurate, even on rainy low-light days! Total 5 thumbs up!

Bought this on clearance at Academy. It's on my lap in the field right now waiting for an Elk to walk by. Very compact and light. Only thing I wish was different is that it took CR123 batteries. My flashlight takes those and they're hard enough to find. CR2 batteries are ones I'd never heard of.

Does not have red characters like most Vortex models. Not usable at first and last light.

Although most folks aspire to heavier caliber, longer range, rifles with high dollar optics, I'm an older hunter who hunts with a 30-06 Springfield equipped with a Vortex Diamondback scope. I hunt big game (Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetail. My comfort zone for shooting 180 grain ammo is 600 yards using a tripod rest. All I wanted in a rangefinder is a simple "meat and potatoes" distance reading that is dependably accurate out to 600 yards. I've been "around the block" enough to know when I'm outside my shooting distance. So far, this rangefinder has met my criteria. Additionally, although I take good care of my equipment in the field, I like the vortex warranty. The size is just right for my hand. I don't use the belt clip because I get tired of having to clean dust off of the exposed lenses. I just carry the soft case on my binocular harness . I like the rubberized coating. It makes it easy to hold on to in cold and wet weather. It would be handier with a tripod mount on the bottom Hunting buddies wonder why I don't opt for more advanced optics? I'm too old to keep up with technology advancements. This rangefinder is easy to set up and use, especially for us technologically challenged elders.
