I bought a Vortex impact 850 rangefinder in 2018, that one wasn't waterproof and after I got caught in a heavy rain shower it failed. The Vortex warranty is great and just as they claim they replaced my rangefinder with a new one. I am having issues with the replacement now and I am not very happy with this product. Problems: 1 Fogging - It is advertised as fog proof but that has not been my experience. The lens is extremely prone to fogging, I have a pocket in my shirt and my bodyheat will fog the lens so I put it in a pouch on my back pack but when I went out early last week it fogged from the morning dew. If I am ranging a target I have to breathe to the side or it will fog the lens. 2) Ranging issues - If there is bushes around the target there are inaccuracies in the range. I was hunting last week and I ranged a tree and 2 different pigs that I could with the naked eye that there was a couple of meters between, but my rangefinder ranged them all at the same distance. It would seem that there was something at that range that the device was picking up but from the viewfinder I had each target dialed in and it should only range what is in the cross hairs in my opinion. I have 2 vortex rifle scopes that I am happy with and I like the compact size of this rangefinder but as a bow hunter primary I need a reliable rangefinder and I don't feel I can rely on this device. I have contacted Vortex and they have offered me a replacement of this or to pay the difference and upgrade to a Ranger 1800 or a Razor 4000. I am going to get the Ranger 1800, I hope it is allot better than the impact.

I bought this for hunting and sighting in rifles. I’ve heard so many great things about vortex I wanted to love this range finder. It would be great for up to 200 yards other than that it struggles to give out readings past 200 yards. The conditions have to be perfect for it to work as stated by vortex

I’ve enjoyed mine so much this season, I will definitely never go without it again. Great accuracy and very compact in the field!

I purchased this rangefinder mainly for the lifetime warranty; however, it has also turned out to be a highly reliable piece of equipment. I’ve haven’t had any issues with it yet. Nice and lightweight, and fits right into one of the small pockets of my Alaska Guide rig. I certainly recommend this product if you’re not looking to make shots over 400 meters or so. Perfect for bow and eastern whitetail seasons in thick forest.

I bought this range finder after another brand took a mild tumble and stopped reading right. This range finder is fantastic. I use it primarily for archery season given it is a mid range finder. I find the accuracy to be fantastic and well within their promised discrepancy. Recently I received a pair of binoculars for vortex but have not had the chance to use in the field. Very satisfied!

I purchased this range finder about year ago. If you are ranging targets or short distances for archery this range finder is spot on. Big game hunting the finder has a lot to be desired. Just recently I was moose hunting. I knew the moose was around 200 yards. Could not get my finder to give me a range. Previously when deer hunting I have always had to range near by objects because it will not range game. I will be spending more money in future on range finder.

Quality to price is great! I'm a bow Hunter in Michigan and this is the perfect range finder here. Helps me in pre season shooting 3D and scouting to in season when I run and gun on public land.

Have had this rangefinder for over a year. They work flawlessly. The only downfall is I wish the lettering was in red instead of black so it was easier to see in low light conditions.

I bought a vortex range find last year and could be prouder of my decision. There are so many range finders to choose from. Yhe light gathering ability and the target acquisition is the best you can find. Will buy again and recommend.

I have used many different range finders and I was very surprised how well the Impact 850 works. It is a very clear optic and very accurate while out in the field. Recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable and reliable rangefinder.

Bought this range finder 2 years ago and absolutely love it. I have owned other brands of range finders and nothing compares to this bad boy. Especially for the price and warranty.

I have used this rangefinder for about two years, and with its help I have been more successful in hitting my targets. This past deer season (November 2018) I spotted a doe and the Impact clocked her out at 496 yards. I dialed in the scope and was able to bring home some venison because of this rangefinder.

I've used this range finder for a year now and I'm notoriously hard on my gear. This thing takes the cake as the best and most durable range finder I've used.

Had this since before last hunting season. Works great for me. Bow hunting, shorter range hunting, and light target shooting. The provided lanyard broke, but it was not a big deal. I keep it in a pocket anyway. Has been accurate. Only gripe is the reticle is not illuminated for early morning hunts. But cant beat it for the price.

I’ve had this rangefinder for 3 month now and have ranged everything from archery targets to big horn sheep. It works as advertised and is simple to use. I don’t have a single complaint and for my use the range distance has been more the enough. Fits perfect in my mystery ranch bino harness as well.

I have had my impact 850 for about nine months have used it while shooting 3D archery as well as chasing white tails and turkeys and it is a great little range finder at a great price. The only complaint I would level is that I feel that I would benefit from a larger lanyard attachment point, it would just give me more options

I bought this rangefinder last summer and use it religiously for archery elk hunting and predator hunting. Always works, never fails. The numbers are bright and clear and easy to use. Will choose more vortex products in the future. Top notch in my opinion!!!!#teamvortex

I wanted something with a little less magnifications. 8x seemed too much for practicing out to 60 yards and hunting 40 and under. Ranges fast. Love that the numbers are red and easy to see at dusk and dawn. Perfect for my needs. Oh, and the glass is very clear too.

Lost my old Nikon and purchased this as a replacement. The red reticle is a game changer in low light hunts where it’s dark in the trees. Light and easy for archery.

I live in Ohio on my farm and I have a range of 500 yards that my buddies and I shoot at. We all went in on this rangefinder and never needed another again. Amazingly clear like all vortex scopes but most importantly top notch accurate. This has been close to six years ago. Also to note the battery life is very long. I and my two other friends have only changed batteries twice since we purchased this bad boy from Cabela’s. Very much do I recommend.

I was on a budget, and needed a range finder that was compact and affordable. The Impact 850 came through in the clutch! As a new bow hunter, I needed ease of use, and accuracy, and it delivered both in a breeze. I use this regularly when I have my bow with me to ensure I have the correct distance for my shots. I've tested it with targets at different distances from 10 yards to 60 yards and on different angles to ensure that I am comfortable using it when bow hunting. Needless to say this rangefinder has the capacity that I need to use it confidently whenever I'm outdoors whether scouting, setting up shooting lanes and marking target distance, or if I'm ranging an animal. In conjunction with my Crossfire 10x42 binos, in my vortex bino glasspack, these items pair up nicely.

I’ve had this for about a year now, ever since I first got the impact it never gave me solid readings, I’d be at the archery range and hit the 40 yard target and I’d get 39,41,40 at 40 every time it was different shooting in the back yard it does the same. 39,41,40 I’d call it 40. I have a black target but have trouble seeing the center so I pin a bullseye I print out. On the paper is 4 yards off than the black target it’s pinned to, I put my glen del next to the black target and am getting 3 different readings between the black target the glen del buck and the paper at the same distance. Shot high at 50 today got my arrow walked back ranged 50 and sent one to god knows where, I walked 4 yards forward and was still reading 49-51. My last few shots of the day at 40 I was reading 37-43 yards it’s all over the place. I’m leaving for a hunt in five days and lost all my confidence with this product. I just ordered a leupold and had it overnighted because there’s no way I’m getting it back from warranty in a week.

I like mine a lot but wish I payed more for the next one up from this. Didn’t feel like it Brought the object in clear like the binoculars do. The light strap thing on it broke before I could even use it.

I love this range finder! I’ve taken it to the range several times and it seems to be very accurate and it’s very helpful at the bow range as a new hunter. Along with the VIP warranty this range finders price is extremely reasonable for its capability.

Haven’t had a chance to use this for hunting yet, but I did compare it to my old rangefinder and it performed very well. I like that this rangefinder is smaller and faster than my old rangefinder, but I bought it because of the VIP warranty. I also own Vortex binoculars. Long story short - they got damaged while hunting and the Vortex VIP warranty was everything they said it was and more. I sent it in, got a return date - I emailed back and asked if I could get it sooner as I was going hun...
