Vortex Optics AMG UH-1 Gen II Holographic Sight, 1 MOA Red Circle Dot Reticle

The AMG UH-1 is exactly what I wanted. I had experience with EOTECH equipment in the Army and nearly went with one of their products but changed my mind and went with the UH-1. Out of the box I could tell it was well made and as rugged as I need it to be- I don't expect to be going to combat any time soon, but I would trust it in a combat situation without fear of failure. It locked very securely on my rifle, and this was a concern of mine based another review that mentioned that it didn't lock in well on their cerekoated rifle. It was very easy to zero as I lucked out and the point of impact was already very close to the point of aim after mounting the sight. I appreciate that it uses a very common battery, a CR123A. And the overall operaiton is simple. The reticle is nice in that the center dot is a 1 MOA for precise shooting and the reticle also has a CQB triangle on the bottom for targets within 10 yards or less, to account for the height over bore offset. And you just can't beat the Unlimited Unconditional Lifetime Warranty

I bought the gen. 1 UH1 many years ago as the first optic I ever purchased for myself. It worked great but had a small issue where when the optic was in standby, it would kill a fresh battery in about one month. Optic held zero and functioned perfectly otherwise. I reached out to vortex, and in the same day, they emailed me a return label to check out the optic and see if they could repair it. A few days later, vortex reached out to me again and informed me that they would be replacing my optic with a new gen. 2 UH1 FOR FREE. They even sent back my gen. 1 with the gen. 2 because on the form I had written that my gen. 1 had sentimental value. When my new optic and old optic were shipped out to me Ryan from Vortex personally called me to get me up to speed on the repair claim. Nice guy. I can not believe a company like vortex still exists. Their employees and products are incredible. I will never buy another brand of optic after today. Thank you Vortex and thank you Ryan.

If I leave the battery in it, it will run the battery down. And Yes, the sight is turned off, I also have the 14 hr. idle off turned on.

I have two of these optics, a gen 1 and gen 2, my gen 1 is awesome outside of the battery life, I dont know if this is because I am used to Aimpoint on my work guns or if I am not monitering it like I should, but the quality of both this optics and the reticle is amazing.

I bought this optic for my MK18, and I have been greatly impressed by it. The EBR-CQB reticle is amazing for flat range shooting, I'm really appreciative of the 10 yard marker on the bottom of the reticle. I love the easy brightness adjustment, and the night vision mode.

I hade two AMG UH-1's, a Gen I and a Gen II that were killing batteries when not used and turned off. I contacted Vortex warranty, they sent a prepaid return label for me to return the AMG units. It took Vortex less than one week after receipt of the AMG units to repair the Gen II and Vortex replaced the Gen I. That is outstanding service. Thank you Vortex. Vortex went above and beyond repairing, replacing and extensively testing both units to make sure both were functions as specified. So far, my third AMG is functioning as it should, but if any problems appear, I am confident Vortex Lifetime Warranty will take care of any problems. Thanks gain, Vortex.

I had the UH-1 gen 1. One of the pieces of glass inside came loose. I sent it back and BEFORE 7 days had passed, I had a brand new gen 2 sitting in front of me. Best warranty ever.

I absolutely love this optic . Added the micro 3 along with this and it's just perfect for 100 yards . That was the sole purpose of purchase was training cqb and 100 yards. The glass is clear optic has a nice view to look through. I have zero complaints.another sole reason i went with vortex is they just stand behind what they sell . That's why i also purchased a strike eagle two from them recently . There are cheaper options elsewhere. But the warranty you get from them sold me on the optics i have purchased.i most definitely would purchase from them again and do not think anyone will be disappointed.if could give one complaint is it stays on for 14 hours but i always take the battery out. So i do not mind .good luck

Watched a lot of reviews before ordering. Easy to install and zero, lens has great clarity. Reticle is bright and easy to see, even on very sunny days. Highly recommend.

Added an 3x magnifier and my old eyes are like new again. The quality of the sight is so good. Its easy to use and looks great. Love Vortex products.

I bought the original UH-1 when it first came out. Absolutely have loved that optic. It's been on my duty rifle for 7 years and gone through thousands and thousands of rounds, countless inner city vehicle pursuits, and in and out of the rifle racks. This thing has been indestructible and been my favorite reticle due to the easy hold for cqb shots. Sadly, last week I noticed that the optic body had a wobble while mounted. If it was a recreational gun it probably would have been fine still. But being on my duty rifle I didn't want to risk it. A 5 minute conversation with someone from vortex's warranty department and I had a new one on the way, expressed shipping so I could get it back in operation asap. This is why I will never go with anyone other than vortex for my duty optics. Love the company and product. Can't thank vortex enough.

I bought the HUEY after owning an Eotech 3-4. I love it!!! Its solid and I actually enjoy not having the hood shroud like the eotech which allows for better FOV. I also really enjoy the little notches taken out of the ring which allows for better view of the target. I do have an astigmatism but my eye has been able to adjust to the reticle. Consumers need to realize that holo sights are NOT perfectly clear. They are pixilated no matter how good your vision is because that's how the technology works. For my zero I ended up doing the 36yd zero from vigilance tactical. I personally enjoy this optic more than my eotech, so BRAVO Vortex!!!! Its hard to pass up the no excuse, no hassle warranty which was a HUGE selling point for me. Thanks!

I own MANY Vortex riflescopes so I figured this would be the same quality. I am disappointed. I got this about 10 days ago and mounted it on my AR15. It seemed a bit heavy but in comparing it to others in its class, it is about the same. I kind of like the blocky look. I dont need the night vision feature so it was not a selling point to me. I am very disappointed in the reticle. I expected crisp and clear. What I have is very lackluster. Its not quite as bad as in the photos. The glass is very clear and it has a nice field of view. Unfortunately, the reticle is a deal breaker and this one is going back.

my eyes aren't what they used to be and looking down a tube isn't sufficient this really helps me acquire targets with ease - just wish vortex could make this a 4x

You wouldn't think there would be a such a huge difference between a holographic and standard red dot, but there is. Having a reticle that is on the same focal plane as what you are aiming at makes aiming so much faster. Controls are easy and the quick release is super convenient. I did take one star off for lack of shake awake. Why this isn't included, even as a premium option, is a big over site.

The UH-1 Gen II is by far the best holographic sight on market in my opinion. The CQR is the factor that sets it above competitors. Only is battery drain that Vortex warranty covers quick and efficiently. CQR needs to be in all red dots or lpvo. 4 stars just because phantom drain should be fix prior to sale.

I bought this holo sight and the Six power magnifier recently. Tried it on my spikes st-15. Amazing. Bright. Clear both eyes open situational awareness. I wondered how this would work on my hk911 7.62x51 battle rife? Bought a Spuhr top pitcanny rail and installed it on the hk. With the addition of a Spuhr adjustable stock the vortex setup aligns perfectly. Amazing technology 30 years later. This same setup will also go on my spikes st-15

In the world of Holographic Optics the number of options is limited but all are high quality. I settled on the UH-1 becuase of the sight picture. The shape design is outstanding. Easy to use at a 100yd Zero and use the ring and btm triangle to hit dead on for closer targets. Quick shots eyes up are natural and accurate. I picked up the magnifier as well so its easy to keyhole longer shots. Proformance aside this thing just looks COOL on the BCM. I'm very happy with this optic. About the only knock I would give the unit is the programing controls. No shake to wake and auto off setting way too long. 14hours; I think that's excessive. I have had mine over a year with zero issues so I can't comment on the Vortex CS but everything I read tells me it is great. The fact I don't need to call the MFG with a problem says enough for me.

Best holographic sight on the market. Currently have two of these and will be picking up more in 2022.I really like the 68 moa (semi) circle, I feel like the optic window doesn't have a busy feel to it. I also love the triangle at the bottom of the 68 moa ring. It makes closer target acquisitions/ CQB easier if your rifle has a 50 yard zero. This optic can take abuse, its going to hold its zero and keep going.
