I've relied on the Vortex

I purchased the much lauded, expensive Zeiss 8x42. I returned them and bought a pair of Vortex 8x42 for 2/3 less. They are Lighter, Tighter and Brighter! There is a lot of cloud cover this Spring in New England. I think they will be good with their wide angles for a little star gazing. So far, they have been superb looking at the trees and the Atlantic. Where are the striped bass? I hope to see the shore birds swooping down to reveal the bigger fish. I plan some birding too. So far, they are the best binoculars I have ever looked through.

Better than the expensive Binoculars

I was just checking out a tree line about 3-400 yards away and spotted a couple deer. Absolutely clear looked as if they were in my front yard.

I purchased the Diamondback HD 8x42 binocular SKU DB-214 last September at the CT Bridgeport Bass Pro - Cabelas store, what I consider an 'investment' buy - as in - a binocular kit FOR LIFE.

And I was not disappointed. I already own a dozen binoculars, large 7 to 10x50s, zoom models, intermedate 8x40s, and car glove-box duty 8x25 pieces. All decent stuff, until the Diamondback bit. . .


Construction:
Very HEAVY for it's size and magnfication class. All adjustments required actual effort, and stayed put until I needed to adjust again. Not a flimsy piece of material anywhere to be found.

The ocular shades click between different settings, for regular users and those wearing eye/sunglasses. All lens movement is internalized inside the twin barrels, as in, no external bridge holding the optics to the objective lenses to bend or crush.


The VIEWWWW:
Stunning, both by day and by night. Bright and crystal clear, I forgot I was looking through them until I lowered them to my chest via the included strap.


The Accessories:
Handy carry bag, although the neck strap took me no less than 45min. to feed through the various openings to attach it to the carry bag. Lens caps stay with the binocular, but hang out of the way if you take the time to attach them correctly. Quality-feel dust cloth for wiping lenses.


Overall:
As I previously referred to these as an investment, they are a big step for me into the mid-upper end scale of sports & rec. optics. Approaches Swarovski caliber without the stratospheric price, but still head and shoulders above familiar brands (Canon, Bushnell, Nikon, etc. )

A general statement about binoculars, regardless of one's price point or preferred brands: Among the inventory at the store I purchased the Diamondbacks, I noticed only 3 binoculars with a magnification less than 10X, including this model that I bought. All others were 10X, 12X, or higher, even glove-box sized models with only 20-25mm objective lenses.

I realize that people nowadays are of the 'more is better' mentality about just every facet in life: louder speakers, brighter TVs, more air in their tires. And, higher magnefication in binocs and other optics. Not always the case.

I find the best experiences with hand-held optics to be at magnification factors of 7 up to 10x, max. Binoculars of 11X and up can be appreciated only via a tripod or other support structure. It just gets too shakey over 10x for practical observing purposes.

Please continue to offer binoculars with sensible magnfications, such as 7x to 10x, for us vintage users! 

And thanks for producing such high quality products.

My First Foray into Higher-End Binocular Segment

They are very clear and draw. A lot of light seem to be great for the price.

Great but Knox

These binoculars have very clear glass, are easy to focus and are a compact size for the power. Great for nature watching while on a hike or just looking out your back door. Comes with usual neck strap and lens covers but also comes with a nice case to help protect when not in use. Would recommend to anyone looking for a pair of binoculars on the compact size end with a good amount of magnification.

I just returned a pair of Vortex binoculars that my wife purchased for my birthday at least 12 years ago. I had great use from these but about two months ago, I was not able to use them as the right side was completely fogged up and not functional. I contacted Vortex and I was told that Vortex would either fix them or issue me a new pair. 
About two weeks later I was sent a new pair of Diamondback HD 10 X 42 binocular. I love these binoculars and love the company even more. Vortex is true to their warranty. I did not even have to pay for shipping as they sent me a shipping label. You can bet that any future purchases of binoculars or scopes or any product I can use that Vortex offers, I will only purchase from Vortex. Great products and a true lifetime warranty.

My first replacement for a 15+ year old pair of 16x50 Bushnell I use for bird watching on the lake. Very surprised at how clear it is with good light. Above average at low light. The adjustable eye cups allow me to keep my eyeglasses on which greatly improves image. And despite the the reviews if I remain sitting the shaking is minimal. Great for deer or hog size slow moving animal spotting at 500 yards.

I bought these binos a couple years ago for my son. He's an active duty Marine and uses them on the range for qualifying days. He loves them. They get passed around to the other jarheads and put up with a lot of abuse. They aren't swaros, but these are not in that class. Highly recommend!

Great option for the $

I bought these for my youngest daughter. The Diamondback line is very good for the money. Not sure it can be beat in this class and price range. They are perfect on a 3-D archery course. No, they are not Swaro, but they get the job done well for the price. Highly recommend.

Great value!

I bought these a couple years ago to try out 15x binos. I normally use my 10x42 glass, but wanted to try a higher magnification on a tripod. They don't disappoint. I wanted to make sure that I would be ok with them before laying out the big money on Swaro or similar. I never knew what I was missing! NEVER going back. These will be replaced with a much higher class optic, but I'm pretty impressed at their performance at this price point.

Bang for the $!

It's vortex we know they're the best bang for buck glass option there is. Paired with their customer support can't go wrong. Took these on many hunts and spotted elk, deer, oryx. I mean you name it I've used it on them.

Great for the price

It's a fantastic product for the price. It's excellent for hunting whitetail in West Texas. I have no issues identifying deer in low-light conditions. It comes with everything you need, but I usually throw it in the backpack and do not use the straps and carrying case.

Travel binos

Very clear even at the edges of view. Smooth focus knob, firm degree angle swing, positive two click eye relief, very firm fine focus twist, easy on/off rubber lens caps. Light weight clear and all the accessories of a larger bio. Perfect for anything minus long details. Wish I could afford the 18x50 for long range birdwatching and wildlife. A really good do all binoculars. If any doubt buy these then do like me and save up for bigger ones.

Should have bought one sooner

I liked that the price included the case/pack. But they are not super bright nor especially sharp. Again they are ok and for my intended use as a hunter Education Instructor will work fine.

Great pair of binoculars for the price! The only reason for four stars instead of five is I'm a little annoyed by the case and neck strap setup. It's really cool that a harness is included, and I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of it. However, I'd also like to be able to use the neck strap occasionally, and to do that you have to unthread the harness straps from the binocs, then rethread, adjust, etc. the neck straps. It would have been SOOOOO EASY to affix a fastex buckle to each end of the neck straps so you could just unsnap and snap whatever system you want to use. As it is, I feel like I have to pick one or the other, or forever be essentially resetting up the binocs.

Great Binocs, Missed Op on the Harness/Neckstrap

I wanted to get a decent pair of binoculars for the range and for general use. I looked at several in the $200-400 price range, and the Vortex Diamondback series were definitely top-notch. Add it the outstanding warranty and customer service Vortex is know for and you have an easy buy.
