Great value

For the price tag this scope offers great value. Its sharp @ 60x manification. Its bright @ 60x manification. Only difference to high end scopes is less vivid colors and litle bit less contrast. What I miss is fine focus adjustmend knob and a DSLR lens attachment. Would recomend over competitors in this price range.

I recently acquired a Diamondback 20-60x80

I really just tested my new Diamondback 20-60X80. I spent close to an hour, putting this scope through my testing. Multiple target acquisition close up 15yrds to 70+yrds. 20 through 60 magnification, and I wear multifocal glasses on the norm. No matter how much I tried to push this scope to its limits, it did not fail!!! My glasses were on and off, i did adjust the eyepiece for a clear picture 20x all through 60x and back. The scope performed extremely perfectly. Thank you vortex great scope, just cant wait to own your “Razor Hd”!!!

Amazing Glass!

Bought this spotting scope a few months ago and wanted to hold off on doing a review until I had some time using it. I now have that time, and let me tell you this was a big game changer for me. The clarity and picture is outstanding, not that heavy for what it is and coupling this with the VIP guarantee there is no question that this is worth its weight in gold!

Great Product!

Brought this out west the last few years hunting elk. More than enough glass for what I needed. Brought a phoneskope and got some incredible pictures as well.

DO NOT BUY.

I bought this spotting scope about 3 years ago. I realized that you get what you pay for, its cheap and for good reason. As mentioned by several reviewers the scope is extremely blurry at over 40X magnification. Its pretty disappointing to get a spotting scope that is only usable at half the magnifications. Definitely not a good product for trophy hunters either as I cannot estimate inches or size of an Elk or Deer unless I'm within 750 yards. The 20x-40x is extremely clear, but its super blurry at 60x. After the second time using this product I got sand stuck in the eye cup, so I can't really adjust the little rubber lipping any more. The covers are super noisy coming on and off, so much so that it will scare animals away. The objective lens cover broke after 2 to 3 days of owning this product. I would highly recommend against this product and will make sure to tell others not to buy a Vortex Diamondback spotting scope.

not what I was expecting

I purchased the Diamondback spotting scope expecting to spot elk. I was disappointed in the lack of focus after about 40 power. I was able to see more clear with my cheap BSA I had purchased over 10 years ago.

Budget Spotter

I had been looking to get a spotting scope for long range shooting to call hits and had my eye on the Razor line of spotters. Unfortunately due to budget I the Razor was out of the question and I decided to order the Diamondback instead. I have been impressed with the quality and clarity of this line of optics. This is a great spotter for those with a tight budget and still want to reach out and see something!

Get value for the money!

I sold a bunch of these when working at my local gun shop! The field reviews we got made me want to try one for myself. Having used one a time or two now, I can say for the price you will be very happy!

Duuuuuude... The bomb !

Jumped on the Vortex bandwagon and haven't gotten back off since! Put the Nikon's down and splurged on the Viper HDs.. wife told me if i had to spend hundreds just to look at deer then she would leave .. well... no more date nights during the Rut !! If your gonna get the big D over anything might as well make it these, at least they won't let you down !

Not as expected

I’ve Owens’s and used this product for 2 years. Wish I would’ve spent money on something else. It’s has good clear optics for the most part, but forget about trying to use this in the morning or late evenings. As soon as the sun starts to go down you can NOT see through this. Ever vortex optic I’ve owned has had terrible light transmission when even compared to optics at a 1/4 of the cost. This was my last vortex purchase for me.

Very nice scope for the money

I have two Diamondback 20-60x80mm, two Razor 20-60x85mm, a Kowa 20-60x88mm Prominar 883, a Swarovski ATX 30-70x95mm, and an old Eagle Optics Raven 20-60x78mm. And I have owned four Swarovski Habicht 20-60x80mm and a couple of the dime-store Baush & Lomb and Bushnell. On a bang-for-buck level, the Diamondbacks hold their own with the high dollar scopes and are a great little scope for the money.

Should be closer to 3.5 stars

I bought this last year and used it for archery deer and a javelina hunt. I’ll be using it again for my elk hunt this year. Spotting scopes overall are pretty expensive. This is a good way to get into one without killing your bank account for one. It feels very durable and tough, it is very heavy though. For shooting at the range or glassing on a mountain isn’t bad, but toting it around is rough and it takes up a ton of room in my pack. But I knew i was getting the bigger one with an 80mm lense. 20-40 this scope is amazing. Clarity and eye relief is excellent. At 40-60 it’s similar to looking through a tasco. I wear glasses which makes it difficult as the eye relief is non existent at 40-60. I ended up getting a phone skope to help with thatbut its still difficult to focus at this power. Will eventually upgrade to the viper. But overall good scope for a good price.

Great beginner spotting scope.

This is a good starter spotting scope. I use it up to 600 yds without issue. It is clear glass and easy to use and adjust. This will give you good view at distance without breaking the bank.

Good item

I write from Italy. I bought this telescope for daytime hunting in the mountains. Very light, therefore transportable without difficulty, it offers a good quality of the image especially during daylight hours. The lenses and the eyepiece and lens caps, which are a little awkward (especially the eyepiece, can be improved.

Amazing quality!!!!

This is the best spotting scope I've used. I also have the GT PRO tripod which I recommend when you purchase a vote spotting scope. The quality of Vortex products are the best around. I would recommend Vortex above all others.

Awesome performance for the price

I'm impressed with the clarity and durability of this spotting scope. I use it all the time and given it a beating, and it still functions perfectly. The clarity of the glass can't be beat at this price point and with a warranty like you get from Vortex, you can't go wrong with this.

Great Budget Buy

Obviously this scope is not the same quality of glass as the Razor HD or Viper HD, BUT for what it is, the price point, AND the warranty, if a low budget scope is all you can afford, the Diamondback is it. It's well made with quality components, and for lower grade glass, is pretty clear... I've used this to spot out to 1200yds+ and can very easily pick up vapor trails, wind mirage, and points of impact. Again, I know this isn't the best spotting scope out there, but because it does all that it claims to do and some with a Bullet proof warranty, I give it 5 Stars.

Bought Used Very Satisfied Again!

I bought this product used and have been very satisfied. For the price of the product its a total no brainier. This is an excellent option for an entry level (and mid level spotting scope. My range goes out to 460 yards and this scope works great at picking up hits on white steel targets at a distance.

Amazing balance of value and performance

I wanna start by saying I have been looking for a spotting scope for a couple of years. I have read hundreds of reviews on products from several different brands. I own products made by several reputable companies. Had bad and good experiences with all of them. However, I have to say vortex is second to NONE when it comes to customer service. I called multiple times and talked to several different reps at the office and they were by far the most helpful of any company I’ve dealt with. That being said, I wasn’t going to buy a product just based on customer service. Because at the end of the day, customer service doesn’t kill elk or find a legal ram across the canyon. But a quality product does. With an upcoming sheep hunt this fall, my dad and I decided it was time to move up from his $40 spotter he got 30 years ago. I narrowed it down to this, the small razor hd, and a comparable scope to this one in another manufacturers line. I wanted more magnification than the small razor offered, but better glass than the other lines spotter had. So I landed on the diamondback. I’ve been mind blown with the quality for the price. Can’t wait to put it to hard use this year shed hunting, scouting, and hunting! I bought this scope because of its great reputation and the perceived quality. Not because I’m a fanboy or because I was paid. I bought it because I truly believe it’s the best bang for the buck on the market today in this price point. You won’t be disappointed!

Good but not great

Had this for almost two years now and to be honest its not as great as I hoped it would be. My main problems are the clarity, when looking at animals and counting points out to 1000 yards its fantastic but in the open country glassing for sheds forget about it. Best way i have found to use it is with a phone scope and using my phone's camera to look through it instead of my eye. Its tough but heavy so i end up leaving it behind often.

Affordable, clear glass that wont break the bank

By Kyle

Was looking for a compact, lightweight spotter that was capable of performing in the mountains and alpine of rugged BC,Canada. Also having a young family I needed something that was affordable. Decided to give the diamondback a go as i already have the same line in binos and the HP scope as well (which is phenomenal). This scope did not disappoint. On our last 5 day backpack hunt we covered on average 15 miles a day, majority of it up, down and sideways. I bareley knew this scope was in my p...
