I really don't think there's any argument to be made that Vortex isn't the absolute best value in optics on the market. The quality is excellent. Everything feels tight, high quality, and well made. The glass is crystal clear and has held up very well. All the adjustments feel smooth and easy without being too loose and sloppy. I can't speak highly enough about this spotting scope. On top of all of that Vortex has hands down the absolute best customer service that I have ever dealt with. Bar none. When I received this scope, I had a hard time securing the eyepiece. It felt like it required more force than I thought was reasonable. I reached out to their customer service for support and a real person called me less than 24 hours later and sorted me out. It's great to see some companies still care about customer service and haven't outsourced it to India or AI. I will never buy another optic from any other company. Period.

My family picked up birding as a hobby a few years back. I had the opportunity to try a scope during a guided birding event and loved the experience so much I purchased my own. It was a hefty investment but I am so glad I did, as it really transformed my birding activities. Another ornithologist recommended an attachment for my phone to the eye piece which bumped it up another level. I love the flexibility of having just the scope or the phone attachment. The best part for me is investing one time in a quality scope and attachment piece as opposed to constantly upgrading full cameras/lenses. Since the technology in the newest phone cameras is so superior, I can utilize that for quality photography. The best part of the scope overall is the customer service. A gust of wind knocked my whole setup over one evening, destroying the eyepiece. I tried my best to fix it, but it was so bent and beyond repair. I did some quick research online and was ready to pay $200+ for a replacement when I called customer service. They sent me a whole new eye piece, no questions asked, along with a hat. I was blown away by the superior service. They really stand by their product and the lifelong investment that comes with them. For that alone they have found a loyal customer for life. Next time any novice birders ask me for a recommendation for scopes or bins I will be sending them to Vortex. Thank you for allowing me back to my favorite hobby without costing a fortune!!

As a guide, I use this scope primarily to share wildlife up close with my clients. We look at waterfowl, shorebirds, perched raptors, alligators, the moon!!! & much more. I usually bring it along if we're hiking less than a mile one way. It's easy enough to carry with stops for viewing along the way. It gets a little heavy/awkward on longer stretches with a tripod attached. It's easy to set up & I only need to make adjustments if someone bumps into it or if the wildlife moves out of frame. The groups I bring out range from beginners to experts & most of them get the hang of making adjustments for themselves! The DURABILITY!!! is what makes this the best fit for me. This thing gets tossed in the backseat of the truck, gear thrown on top of it, left outside for longer than intended, it sees salt, sand, dirt, rain, etc. & is in fantastic condition after 3 years. The only thing I would do differently for this type of varied group use is getting the angled scope vs straight. This would be useful when people of different heights are cycling through to view. This is not a complaint about the product, just a note for anyone deciding between models! (video featuring rare American Flamingo sighting in coastal South Carolina. One of many lifers viewed up close through my Diamondback! I'll probably never learn to capture smooth iphone footage through a lense like this ?? looks a lot better in person)

The vortex diamondback hd 20-60x85 straight spotting scope has been amazing. It is super easy to pack and also works great for spotting from the truck. The only thing that I could say back is when it's cold it gets foggy. I think this is an awesome item for both beginners and experts for a reasonable price.

I use this spotting scope mainly for range days when I want to see where either I, or someone else is on a target at longer distances. Everything worked great. The glass is decent on it, you can definitely spend more money and get a fancier scope. But for most people this one would work great for most people. The Arca-Swiss mount is super common and has lots of options for mounting. Overall very good scope that is easy to use.

First impression, beautiful! Second impression, this is a solid built spotting scope. Well packaged, everything was well thought out and it did NOT disappoit! The optics are so clear and sharp. Everything about this unit speaks to high quality. If you're you never owned a spotting scope, you don't know what you're missing. The unit is very easy to setup use. It easily fits into a backpack for transport to the field. It also has great lens protection and the unit is well armored. Unit works great in low temps, no fogging, always clear optics, you will not be disapointed!

Well priced for this quality of glass. Solid construction and covers in with options - easy with support, and rugged with all covers on. Fits well in ghillie suit without covers coming loose. In a stationary setup - easy to remove and adjust onto tripod.

Recently submitted an older model Diamondback for warranty. It was unrepairable so they sent me this brand spanking new one and its night and day difference in glass quality. Vortex has really stepped up the quality and design of the Diamondback series. I am really pleased with the whole warranty process. If you want a smaller pack and budget friendly spotter, this is it!

I have several scopes, spotting scopes, and binoculars from Vortex Optics. First off I love the lifetime warranty, I destroyed a scope when I fell down going down a canyon to retrieve a deer, then I crushed a tube by over-tightening the rings. Both times Vortex sent me new optics even though I told them it was my fault. Last year my spotting scope fell over in high winds and when I went back to pick it up it still works as if it were new. Tough and dependable.
