The glass is awesome for birding. I liked it so much, I returned this size and am waiting to size up to the largest angled spotting Razor scope whenever it's available. And vortexes lifetime policy makes me a vortex buyer for life. Great for anyone getting into birding - you might as well go with the highest level glass from the start because if you start with a lower level glass, you'll want to level up eventually anyway !

Love the size and weight for putting on miles with. The angled design makes it comfy to glass out of. Fits in my pack super easy. The glass is nice and gives a crisp picture. Would highly recommend

Clear glass and the perfect magnification level for my needs. It is a fairly heavy spotting scope but that's to be expected for this quality of spotting scope.

This review comes after a season of California blacktail deer hunting. The scope is solid and has great glass. Early morning low light visibility was good and had no issues. I hunted mostly during 90 to 100 degree days in A Zone. No issues with the excessive heat. I liked the focus wheel which worked well. This spotter did the job perfectly and I was impressed. Won't have to ever buy another spotting scope thanks to the incredible warranty.

This is a good spotting scope, it provides a lot of quality with a price point that is reasonable. Great scope for backpacking, smaller optic with lighter weight makes it easy to pack along. It also allows to you reach out several miles and gives you the information you need to decide your plan of action on a hunt. Optical clarity is great and the large and small adjustments are easy to use and get into focus quick. The low light performance isn't the best, but it's a spotter so you get what it is. Over, it's a quality spotter and I would recommend it to anyone.

Yes it's a bit pricy for the average hunter but with the amount of money and time you already have vested in a big game tag you shouldn't skip out on quality glass. Ive spent hours behind this glass hunting Elk, mule deer and white tail. It's great for checking targets while working on a new zero. The window mount (sold separately) has been great for mobile scouting when you want to sit in the heat/AC. I even pull it out to look at the stars and the moon. I use the magview phone adapter and it's been great wildlife/outdoor videos and verification of target practice. It's nice not having to use a separate case for you phone but takes some practice to get your camera centered on the lenses. Everything you look for in a spotter, this one has it, unless you want to spend 6K to get a swaro BTX. I debated getting the 85mm razor and for some instances the 85mm makes sense. Since I'm largely a backpack hunter I opted for the 65mm. My hunting buddy has an 85 and yes it has more zoom and may be a little better in low light, but we could easily identify the same animals with either. I'm not trying to count inches on a rack at 2000 yards either. If it's what I want I'll get closer. Bottom line is I would recommend this spotting scope to anyone who is serious about hunting in the west or who wants to upgrade to a more modern glass. In my opinion over the last 10-15 years spotters and binoculars have come a very long way. It's amazing how much more clear they have gotten. For the money I would skip over the diamondback and viper and go right to the razor if you can. Hope this helps validate someone who's on the edge or can't make up their mind. Shoot safe.

I bought the Razor HD spotter last fall and used it on deer hunts on Colorado and Utah. It was a must when trying to cover these massive landscapes. I was extremely impressed with the quality and clearness of the glass on this optic, especially at low light! In my opinion it’s a very high end spotter at a great price!

I ourchased this spotter after a day afiled with a lesser scope i failed to see misses at 2000yds. Mirage was beyond comprehensible. Next week i had this scope and mirage was once again terrible. Even though it was hard to spot the hits and misses i could dicern through the crisp glass. We use nightforce scopes on our rifle but after looking through this.i might have to look at Vkrtex for my next scope as well. OUTSTANDING PRODUCT!

I spent a long time doing a side by side comparison between the viper HD spotter and the Razor Spotter. I almost bought the Viper because I was not noticing any difference in clarity. It wasn’t until I was doing a fine focus out past a mile that I noticed a difference, the razor definitely had the edge. I hunt a lot of mule deer and elk and those fine details are important. Great scope and it’s nice to know if something were to happen to it it will be covered by the warranty.

I have a bit of experience with several other manufacturers; Leupold, Swarovski, etc, and I would say this beats or matches them in clarity of glass and you can save quite a bit compared to the expensive options. The pivoting eye piece locks in securely and the focus ring is easy to manipulate. Although I don't have one, the reticled eye piece is a great option to have at your disposal if you want it. I use it for glassing valleys in the Sierra Nevadas and I am pretty hard on it while backpacking and I've never had an issue in durability. Even if something were to happen, send it back and Vortex will fix it with no questions asked. Do what you want to, but after using this for a while I would say you can stop looking further, just buy this one. Great product, great warranty. I can't say enough good things about this spotting scope and Vortex as a company. I also have a Ranger 1300 and a set of Razor HD 12x50 Binos. They're all great.
