The battery cap has a slot for a coin instead of a screwdriver. The problem is that once you install the sight, there is no room for a coin and your fingers. It is extremely annoying, I need to hold a coin with needle nose pliers to install and remove the cap. It would have been nice to have a slot for a standard screwdriver. The sight itself is great. I would not purchase another one.

I really like the optic and that it operates even without a battery with the etched glass. My only problem is that it isn't a true 1x, it's more like a . 9x because it makes everything ever so slightly smaller. I suppose that is good for tactical situations, but for target shooting it makes it harder to find the center. I now feel like I need to get a 3x magnifier to compensate when I would have been happy with a true 1x magnification.

I have the Spitfire AR prism scope which is my favorite because I have astigmatism. I tried other Prism scopes but Vortex has the best lens and the reticle is my favorite . I get on target quickly and have the Vortex 3x magnifier in front of the spitfire for longer distances. The eye relief is great. I recently stripped the rail mount fastener from moving this optic to other setups. I contacted Vortex through email message and they promptly sent me out new fasteners.

I have used this product in the past and it was a great optic. Vortex also has an amazing warranty.

Perfect for my patrol SBR. Easy to adjust and acquire target rapidly, while also low profile. Definitely nice to have the options between red and green allowing night vision use. Would definitely recommend for anyone needing a quality optic at a decent price that's loaded with options.

Good optic, with an amazing warranty from vortex. With the etched reticle it is still functional if the battery dies.

I have the Spitfire AR, mounted with their Mini 3X Magnifier. It says that these two items are not compatible here on the website. But, with prism scopes, you have to mount them behind the magnifier rather than in front of the magnifier like you would with every other kind of scope/sight. Its unconventional, but it works perfectly.

Solid scope for a rifle set up for short range options. I currently have this on an SBR that I primarily use for home defense and sport shooting.

This is a great optic for the price. If your looking for a good red dot scope without breaking the bank. I can not recommend this one enough.

Nearly perfect product! My only gripe is the scope caps. Until the connection point is worn in, the caps do not stay out of the way, partially obstructing the field of view. I wish there were some flip caps that were compatible with this. Then it would be perfect.

Love the scope fast target aquisition. I use spitfire AR prism mounted on a 7. 62 x39 on ar platform for hogs. Quick to get into position for next target. Also had to send it back for a problem with not sighting in properly and service was the best. They returned my scope within a week. BUY VORTEX !!

Work gave me one of these to use on-duty. Immediately noticed that the diopter adjustment causes reticle movement. Yes, i understand this won't make much of a different within 100+- yds, however I hate the idea of my POA moving where I don't want it to, and when I don't want it to.

Really hard parallax. Looking through the glass items appear slightly further away than they should be. Compared to other vortex optics the outer material finish makes it feel and look cheap. Illuminated reticle is nice and easy to pick up and I'm happy I went with the etched option. Definitely good for cqb but shooting out past 100 yards will prove to be difficult. Okay for the price point and someone who's just starting out and eventually looking to upgrade

I love it and now my father with an astigmatism is getting one too since it's etched.

This is a great optic. I have a astigmatism and struggle to see clearly with a red dot. This one is pretty clear. A little bigger than I thought. But otherwise a great optic. The only negative I would say would be the dot in the inner circle is a little small and harder to see. This is a great optic for the value. I love vortex and would recommend it.

Mounted on my .50 muzzleloader. Out to 100 yards hitting within 1-2 MOA. the concentric circles really help put the dot right where you want it. Bought this to prepare for my elk hunt where magnification on a scope is not permitted. Another great feature is the reticle is etched onto the prism so in bright conditions you don't need to turn on the lights. Shows up black and crisp.

Does what it it claimed to do. Great AR optic for a good price. Glass is clear and reticle is great.

I mounted this optic on my patrol rifle. I have an astigmatism so switching to a prism has been a game changer. Great optic, has held zero with no problem, battery life has been great and I like the reticle setup. Only critique, very minor, is I don't love having to hold both buttons together to turn it off as it can be a little awkward. Overall highly recommend.

Reliability: I have yet to replace the battery for this optic after several outings. The etched reticle allows operation without the optic turned on, but limits the operation of the optic in low-light conditions. Each time I have take it to the range, it has held its zero very well - only requiring minor adjustments to account for variations in temperature (Temp Range of 20 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit). Close Quarters: If you are looking for an optic that performs well in close-range environment (<100 yards), then you'll find it here. The glass is incredibly clear and transmits light effectively, and the reticle as well as the height over bore out of the box facilitate rapid target acquisition; however there is mild distortion from the lens that can take some getting used to. Long Range: I would love to add a magnifier so that I can speak from experience on its longer range capabilities, but I need to modify my rifle before doing so. I prefer a more precise reticle for long-range shooting, but I believe this optic provides the necessary level of accuracy to be effective if longer range shooting is required. Given its intended platform and purpose, I wouldn't recommend this optic for a shooter who intends to regularly stretch the limits of their range. Summary: The Spitfire is a remarkably consistent optic that holds a zero and boasts impressive battery life. Designed for close-quarters shooting, it excels in this area with a well-designed reticle and comfortable shooting position.

The optic holds zero and the etched reticle is a nice feature. I found the optic cheaper on other sites after purchasing it from here. My mistake.

Where can I get replacement turret caps. What size are the factory ones?

I choose this reticle because it has etched glass as well as the illuminated options. During the day time, the black reticle is perfect and the green/red is not needed. At night the green/red is great but is not to bright. My department also uses the sig sauer optics which are too bright and are much larger MOA. I am a range instructor for my department and the other instructors agree this a great product. The etched reticle is also nice since batteries tend to die at the worst time. While others may no longer function this works perfectly still. I choose to purchase a reticle because after shooting irons and an acog with the marines, I prefer a scope. I have had this optic for about two years and it has held a zero in the back of my patrol vehicle just fine.

Spitfire AR Prism Scope
Built from the ground up specifically to maximize the quick-handling performance of AR-platform rifles, Vortex's new Spitfire AR 1x prism scope delivers incredible optical quality and ultra-fast functionality in a lightweight, streamlined package. The generous, parallax-free, sight picture and forgiving eyebox gets shooters on target effortlessly-even in high-stress scenarios.
Rear facing power and illumination intensity controls are easy to access, simple to operate, stay visually present from the shooting position and are protected from incidental contact. Ten intensity levels let you adjust to perfectly match ambient light conditions. Runs off a single, common, AAA battery. The DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle is etched directly on the prism to assure consistent point-of-aim at all times- regardless of whether or not the illumination is engaged. An additional yardage-marked turret cap (ballistic-matched to the 5.56 cartridge) allows the shooter to swap out the factory-installed cap for rapid dialing of known-distance shots out to 700 yards.
At 11.2oz, the lightweight Spitfire AR excels in close to medium range shooting applications where speed is of the essence, making it the ideal choice for AR shooters who needs to get on target fast.
DRT (MOA) Reticle
The DRT (Dual Ring Tactical) reticle is designed for rapid shooting at close distances. The dual ring design pulls the eye into instant alignment with the reticle center and target. Etched directly on the prism to assure consistent point-of-aim at all times with selectable red/green illumination of five intensity levels to match specific conditions.
