I have 4 quick release mounts since 2017 and not had the first problem. One mount each for spotting scope, binocular mount, digiscope, and a tripod mounted shooting V to convert tripod to shooting sticks. A lot of negative comments about the screw coming loose, but I have yet to have an issue in Alaska (4 times), Colorado (once), and my home state (all the time).

I have installed this QR plate on both of my spotters and my binoculars tripod adapter.No issues.A drop of blue thread locker when attaching will keep it tight.GREAT PRODUCT.

In order to keep the tripod lightweight, there is a small QR plate. Put some thread locker on the threads, tighten with the appropriate sized screwdriver and enjoy! I don't care which type of tripod/QR plate you get whether it's from vortex, vanguard, manfrotto, etc. even if they have a "pin" to prevent rotation, they all come loose if you "finger tighten" them... The featherlike weight and versatility of this tripod FAR outweigh the negligible inconvenience of having to get some thread locker and a screwdriver out for a few minutes... Well done Vortex. Whenever I'm using this tripod on the range or on the hunt, people love this tripod set up!! I use this in all weather conditions, with binoculars and a spotting scope that weighs 4.1 pounds with zero issues!! I love it!

Have had this tripod for a couple of years, have dragged it across Europe with a Canon 5d Mkiii/24-70mm f2.8L ii lens which weighs a ton. The tripod is fast to deploy and is compact and light. Is a bit flimsy but is better than not having one which is usually the case with heavy tripods, they live at home. The accessory plate lets this tripod down a bit, overall though this is a great unit.

The plate constantly comes loose and makes me fear I’m going to drop my new scope on the ground. It needs a second screw or a locking washer maybe to keep it on. It’s kind of a bummer when you glass up a nice animal and all of the sudden your scope is jiggling on your tripod because the adapter is loose.

Like others have stated, mount fits perfectly in the tripod making for easy swapping, but will not prevent spinning without the alignment pin. Stripped out my scope trying to keep it from spinning on the mount.

They do as they are designed without any issues. They don't seem to come loose and they work quickly and effectively.

I purchased a Vortex spotting scope for target shooting but then decided to use it's tripod for my Sony A6300 as well. I ordered some extra bases mounts for the tripod and it works well under normal conditions.
