I probably have 12 Vortex Scopes and this Scope is my least favorite. Its finicky and difficult to get a good sight picture. Also, the eye relief is shorter than specified. I wouldn't put it on anything with stout recoil or you will going home with bent glasses or a gash in your forehead or both. It is well made and attractive. It also has a unique zoom ring different from any other Vortex scope I have and it is not compatible with an aftermarket throw lever. I had it out Saturday on a 7mm-08 and was not happy with the results. And yes, what everyone else said about the hazy appearance around the edges in low light. I have a Monstrum Guardian that out performs this particular Vortex. I can't recommend this scope.

This is a great scope . Had a little trouble with it. Called customer service, they sent me a shipping label and number. Sent it in and couldn't be repaired. And they sent me a new scope. Definitely VIP warranty. I will not buy anyone's products but Vortex from now on . True to their word. I have 4 of they products and 5 star all the way.

I found this scope on sale at my local dealer for $299.99 and bought it quick to put on top of my .270. It's been solid so far and the clarity is great for the most part, once you get past 15x or 16x it's a bit hazy at 100 yards. I've noticed in low light situations you want to be using lower magnification to make the picture clearer. No real complaints besides the higher magnifications

This scope is easy to sight in and holds zero like nothing else. I have not touched my scope in 8 years of hunting and it is still dead on. It is clear and bright until you start to use the higher magnification. Anything past 16 has to be in perfect light conditions. As stated by another review if the sun is close to the horizon it is difficult to see your target, and next to impossible to get a good sight picture if you are 18 or 20 power on the scope. This scope has proven to be rock solid, but the poor sight picture and low-light performance keep it from being as good as it could be.

Bought this scope and put in on my bolt action 223, and it worked awesome. the glass is super clear, but a little dim in low light. the turrets are great, the rotation counters are super convenient, and the turrets track very well.

I got this scope to go on a remington 700 sps varmint in .308win. Originally i was skeptical as this was my first vortex product, but I sure am glad with my choice. This optic is just as good as more expensive scopes maybe even better! Crystal clear and the mil- dot reticle is super sharp. And Vortex's warranty is the best on the market!!

I really like the clarity this scope has. While I haven't fully used the dead hold reticle yet I will experiment with it very soon. It's probably far more accurate than I am. Very happy with this scope and intend on purchasing another.

Just installed and zeroed this scope today on a Custom Savage in 6.5x47. Did a complete scope tracking moving turrets 20 clicks up, down, right, left and back to zero after each shot. Elevation is off one inch up and down. The windage turret is very mushy and difficult to count clicks.

I wanted a quality rifle scope with a little more range and magnification than the old traditional 3x9 that used to sit atop my rifle. Found this scope and fell in love with it. Now this is what sits atop my 7mm REM mag that I use for big game hunting here in Idaho. Love that I was able to sight it in easily and then re-zero the index to track future changes. But so far it hasn't moved a bit since initial sight-in. Crystal clear view in the field at any magnification setting. And don't forget the Vortex flip caps!

This scope is the third Vortex rifle scope that I have purchased. I started out with a Crossfire II, then a Diamondback and now this Viper. I also have a Talon binocular. All of the scopes are crystal clear and they hold zero without any variance. I now have a Crossfire II scout scope and just purchased a Strike Eagle 1-8 scope. I haven't used the new scope as yet. Vortex is now my scope of choice over Leupold, Redfield or any of my other brands of scopes.

I shot my M-14 in the Marines many years ago. Now that I'm retired I wanted to purchase an M1A from Springfield Armory. I needed a scope for my old tired eyes. I'm very impressed with the Viper Scope, it's clarity and ease of operation. I really like the spring loaded turret as you can set back to zero when adjusting. This scope is very easy to adjust and finds it's way to the target with pin point accuracy. Thanks for making a great piece of glass and at a very affordable price.

Knocked my rifle off the tailgate of my truck one day landing directly on the elevation cap. That was a year ago and it’s been going strong since with no point of impact shift. Fine crosshairs are nice for precision shots as well. Magnification ring is smooth as well for fast adjustments.

I've had the scope for 5 years mounted to my hunting, long range rig the gun has been dropped and abused and the scope is still clear and holds zero.

Quality of the scope is great for the price. Holds Zero, mounted on 6.5 creedmoor. All my scope and red dot are Vortex. Love their warranty.

I have 2 of these scopes, both on 300wm's. They have been dependable scopes had one about 9 years and another about 6. They have seen a lot of miles and getting beat around hunting and have done well. The selector on the magnification ring is a really cool design, it makes changing the magnification much easier especially with gloves and makes it easy to see what magnification you are on. The only negatives are the low light gathering could be better, and the eye relief changes a lot from low to high magnification and is pretty short at max power, so I would recommend setting your eye relief with the scope at a mid point of magnification to make it useful at both high and low manification.

If it wasn't for the terrible eye relief I would have given this scope five stars. That being said everything else about the viper is nice, durable and is reliable. Given the eye relief problem I will be selling my viper and going back to Leupold . At least until the eye relief issue is improved.

Shrugging off recoil, moisture and darkness with impunity! The Viper's status as a premium riflescope won't be as easy to shake. Discover a riflescope with incredible performance features like 95 percent light transmission and premium, fully multi-coated optics for stunning detail and color differentiation delivering all this and more at a price that should have pulled a few more hundreds from your wallet than it did.
x-Factor Vision, Precision optics feature our exclusive XR anti-reflective coatings for exceptional image clarity, and XD premium high-density glass to provide the edge-to-edge sharpness needed to differentiate details at any distance.
The Viper's Precision-Force Spring System is a patented system that uses an ultra-performance copper alloy / cobalt-beryllium spring. Not only does this greatly increase the fatigue life of the erector support system over more commonly used materials, but changes in spring pressure over time are virtally eliminated because the spring maintains a constant force throughout the entire range of motion. And, most importantly, windage and elevation adjustments are consistently smooth thanks to the spring's resistance to galling against the erector tube.
The Viper's Precision-Glide Erector System features premium-grade fluoropolymer teflon resin bushings that provide exceptional resistance to stress cracking, temperature change, corrosion, and friction-induced wear. In addition, these bushings have an ultra-low coefficient of friction for the smoothest possible operation of the magnification adjustment.
Vortex engineered the Viper riflescope to stand the test of time and rough abuse. The solid one-piece main tube of the Viper is incredibly tough and constructed out of 6061 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. Vortex goes even further and purges the Viper with the highly-prized argon gas, targeting corrosion in an unchallenged way.
