Experience the legendary sound of the VRM-1 Real McCoy Wah Pedal, a Limited Edition Chrome model that meticulously recreates the iconic tone of the first-ever wah pedal. Initially introduced by Vox in 1967, the Wah-Wah pedal was designed to mimic Clyde McCoy's trumpet mute technique. However, its transformative use with electric guitars made it a staple for renowned artists like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.
The VRM-1 Real McCoy Wah Pedal is celebrated for its distinctive nasal tone that accentuates the midrange, infusing a warm and melodic quality into your expressive lead guitar playing. This pedal enhances the articulation of each note, making it a sought-after tool for musicians worldwide.
Our engineers have painstakingly replicated the unique tonal characteristics of vintage wah pedals, known for their individual sound profiles. This was achieved through extensive research and testing, including A/B comparisons of frequency responses between the VRM-1 and other vintage units.
The VRM-1 Real McCoy Wah Pedal features a meticulously replicated "Halo" inductor, a crucial component in vintage wah technology. This inductor brings out the iconic nasal tone, while subtle modifications yield distinct tonal characteristics.
The VRM-1 also incorporates a potentiometer, a variable resistor that drives the wah sweep. This component has been carefully adjusted to ensure a near-identical curve to the vintage unit. Additionally, the VRM-1 employs a BC108 transistor, precisely matched to its vintage counterpart, for accurate tone adjustment.
The VRM-1 Real McCoy Wah Pedal also features larger 1/2W carbon film resistors to faithfully replicate the vintage Wah tonal characteristics. In the Wah circuit, 0.01uF capacitors have been used to impact the tonal quality, with the most resonant capacitor meticulously selected after analyzing numerous options.
The casing of the VRM-1 Real McCoy Wah Pedal is designed to impact both the angle at which the foot engages and the pedal's range of motion. A new mould was created by disassembling a vintage unit and conducting a 3D scan of both the lower case and the pedal. This ensures that the pedal moves at the same angle as the vintage counterpart, enabling the faithful reproduction of the vintage wah.
Experience the VRM-1 Real McCoy Wah Pedal, a Limited Edition Chrome model that authentically recaptures the essence of a bygone era. This pedal is a testament to the pursuit of the ultimate vintage Wah, offering musicians the opportunity to infuse their music with the iconic sound of the 1960s.
